TJ - sorry, but does anyone know anything about guitar hero for WII? does it matter if its III or IV?

# i know you should avoid the blue and white guitar controllers
as they like to leak battery acid all over your hands.....

(not sure what you mean by "does it matter if its III or IV?"

# i think (but could be wrong)
III is just the guitar
IV has the drums and microphone ala Rock Band (it's called Guitar Hero World Tour rather than GH4)

other than that the only difference would be the track listings

# get him a real guitar. He may be disappointed he didnt get teh game now,
but when he is 18 and a guitar playing god as a result, he'll be very thankful!

# I would wait until he decides he wants to play the guitar
instead of forcing it upon him. Try and encourage him, sure, but make him think it is his decision.

If he is not keen enough to practise, then he won't get very far. if you force him to practice, then he will just resent it and won't enjoy playing (which is the point of learning).

I speak as somebody who teaches guitar and has at least one student who clearly is not interested, but has a pushy mum.

# Everybody with children sould have
a guitar in the house. Nothing fancy just an acoustic with a slim neck of the sort you can pick up for £30.
If it sits in a cupboard for years then no hardship, but if someone decides to pick it up then you never know what will happen.
Personally I won't have guitar hero in the house. I think it is a ridiculous item and has nothing to do with music or playing guitar.

My nephew has it, however he also has guitars, two acoustic and an electric and takes lessons in classical guitar. He certainly does not confuse the two things as being the same species.

# There are two Guitar hero games out for the Wii right now
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. Both are pretty much the same, with the exception of the songs.

However a new version of Guitar Hero is coming out (For all consoles) called Guitar Hero: World Tour, in a couple of weeks - it will have full band capabilities like Rock Band and you can buy it with the drum kit and microphone as well as the guitar.

I am guessing he wants the new one.
