Not finished yet, but pleased so far.

# That's quite hypnotic actually.
I await pictures of matchstick men.
Watching this animated version gives it a deeper feeling. Quite lovely.

# [that's a bit bloody good.
I was in the Manchester Lowry exihibition last May, and I noticed that there are three versions of this scene. Two being from private collections. As if they saw the original, and asked for a reproduction.

Well there you go, "useless information". ;)]

# No such thing
as useless info. i suck it all up and bore people at parties,

# Great job so far, but - uh?
Being an industrial city bloke myself, I'm always astonished that people ever want to revisit, and even elevate, this kind of horror.
Lowry's stuff, for me, always screamed about the horrible shit my grandparents had to live with, and that I'm so grateful I haven't had to put up with.
But then again, I like reading John Steinbeck and listening to Woody Guthrie - perhaps I'm doing exactly the same thing, just on a different continent!

Also - a sundae girl thing without matchstick men?

(Yes, I like!)

# I'm glad
you got the irony. But Lowry? Social art will always have a place.
(, Sat 13 Dec 2008, 0:39, archived)
# It's odd. Always found Lowry, "It's grim up north" stuff etc suitably grim, dull... hated being subjected to it.
But the American equivalents? Thrilling! Endlessly wonderful!

I s'pose I was wondering if your thing here is the same kinda thing, just in reverse.

I'd love the idea of people from other countries finding Manchester, Birmingham etc somehow romantic or exotic.

Like the way I always have this sneaking desire to hit explore Detroit...

# this looks great
I look forward to seeing the finished article :)
