striking matches with one hand is always a challenge too.
(, Sun 28 Dec 2008, 14:18, archived)
# you don't keep all that stuff at the ready?
what if there's a sudden riot? these are difficult economic times, it could happen at any moment

always have
1. source of fire
2. camera
3. image processing software at the ready to make amusing pictures of burning mayhem

fun!

# I have to insist on a
fire exit zone from my desk to the fridge.
In the event of an inferno there must be no obstacles or trip hazards that prevent me getting to my beer in a timely fashion.

# deodorants is cheapers than gazle lean
but only good for isolated burnings. or explosions if left on for too long and the flame gets inside. aaah.. misspent youth.

# a full tin of wd-40 or similar is quite spectacular
tho the base of the can will shoot off at about 200mph glowing brightly in the night sky :D

so make sure it doesn't go flying towards yourself, remember kids, don't try this at home, and if you do, it's youtube material

:D

oh yeah, 20 foot mushroom cloud, not too bad
edit: of mostly fire
edit2: though being on a bonfire to startwith probably helped

# I have lost count of the times I spent in woods with
fires roaring, throwing Asbestos, (from farm building roofs ) Aerosols, (liberated from the neighbour's bins) and shotgun cartridges ( liberated from the gun cabinet ) onto said fires ( often at the same time ) just to wait with glee, behind the flimsiest of hastily constructed barricades ( usually no more than 10 feet from the fire ) for the expansion and ricocheting of shrapnel.
I wonder how I made it through my childhood, let alone the stuff that came after that.
(, Sun 28 Dec 2008, 14:28, archived)
# yeah, seriously I wonder about that sometimes
how are some of us actually alive into adulthood

and plus when you are a kid you aren't always aware that some folk are outright batshit insane

still, fun eh :D
(, Sun 28 Dec 2008, 14:31, archived)
# ...and now I'm the granddad
and what else would I give my grandson other than wethers corrosive materials and explosives.
(, Sun 28 Dec 2008, 14:34, archived)
# heh
ahh, in ye grandads day it was worse

you'd get a bag of "OLD BASALTS BASALT CHEWS" and you'd run around in a forest beating the shit out of eachother with rusty iron pipes you'd found at the closed chemical factory while on fire and leaving a trail of broken teeth

kids these days!
(, Sun 28 Dec 2008, 14:38, archived)
# another favourite
was to get up the banks of this bridge and then into the girders under the bridge deck and work your way to the centre. We'd watch for ships and spit on them but the real reason we were there was to wait for the trains to go over as we hung on for dear life.
On the right we hung a rope 'Tarzan' from about the centre and if you backed up high enough on the soil bank you were almost assured of slamming into the brick support pillar to the great cries and admiration of your pals.

(, Sun 28 Dec 2008, 14:46, archived)
# hahaha
now that's lethal

unfortunately (or fortunately maybe) the design and location of the railway bridge in town precludes this sort of thing

(, Sun 28 Dec 2008, 14:50, archived)
# grim persistance and a fine set of teeth.

Lets hope that reincarnation thing isn't true.
