fires roaring, throwing Asbestos, (from farm building roofs ) Aerosols, (liberated from the neighbour's bins) and shotgun cartridges ( liberated from the gun cabinet ) onto said fires ( often at the same time ) just to wait with glee, behind the flimsiest of hastily constructed barricades ( usually no more than 10 feet from the fire ) for the expansion and ricocheting of shrapnel.
I wonder how I made it through my childhood, let alone the stuff that came after that.

On the right we hung a rope 'Tarzan' from about the centre and if you backed up high enough on the soil bank you were almost assured of slamming into the brick support pillar to the great cries and admiration of your pals.
