# ooo!
apparently it's RDS, so have this:

This one belonged to my dead grandfather, so be nice.

# Went to PC world too huh?:P
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:16, archived)
# haha. yep!
I'm not alone then. I thought you all probably built your own super rigs and feel slightly ashamed...
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:19, archived)
# Used too
but don't really need one for here.
Works well enough. Not bad for 400 squid.

Plus bonus points for the nonflatpacked desk!
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:25, archived)
# yay!
;)
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:27, archived)
# mines a PC world job
needed it for uni and didn't fancy building my own only for it to go tits up at the first hurdle

now i'm a dropout i'll probably build my next one for a bit of fun
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:28, archived)
# Yep
could have tred to build one, but I'd only have fucked it up!

# I keep meaning to add another monitor onto mine
but I would have to see if it's still working and worth having 2 monitors.
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:35, archived)
# I would not be without 2 monitors.
I play games on my big Toshiba and I have a 28" LCD on the other comp but for the one I sit at most ( this ) I have 2 trusty old CRT monitors as you can't buy an LCD that gives you anything like the same clarity.
Having that extra workspace is invaluable for working with photoshop on one and having a browser on the other so you can quickly source images, read b3ta etc without leaving photoshop.
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:49, archived)
# i might steal
my mum's old shit monitor as a second monitor
have a new flatpack desk with a printer shelf which'd be perfect for using for media/gaming whilst using this one for internets and stuff. Not sure my PC can handle it though at the moment
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 18:00, archived)
# Oooh that is a classic desk
EDIT: ALSO I LIKE THE WAY ALL THE DESKS PRETTY MUCH EITHER HAVE B3TA OR THE PICTURE OF THEIR DESK ON

GOOD WORK INTERNETS!

# ta!

# My aunt has that desk.
does the centre drawer not drop down to reveal a slide for the keyboard to sit on?
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:18, archived)
# no! wish it did...
this one's from the 30s I think...
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:20, archived)
# ah hers is
a computer desk reproduction, but as far as I can recall it looks identical to that.

replacing that centre drawer so that the face is hinged and putting a slide shelf inside would be a piece of cake, but maybe not fair to the furniture.
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:22, archived)
# Yeah - it would be dead handy
but I'd feel too guilty...
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:24, archived)
# being 'in the trade'
so to speak, would it make it any easier if I told you that the price of brown furniture at auction is through the floor and you'd be lucky to realise £30 for it before commission?

Get your saw out lad ;)

# aw, shit...
there goes my 'cash in the attic'...

Prepare for your 'remodelling', my old wooden friend!

;)

# It's such a lovely desk and it would be a shame to mess with it
no matter how much it's worth.
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:45, archived)
# It depends.
A good carpenter ( cabinet maker ) could do it sympathetically so that it would look identical and as long as the draw joints were not cut it could be put back to the original in no time.
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:54, archived)
# It needs restoring
anyway - the leather on top is very faded and marked, and a couple of the drawers are stiff. It's a reproduction itself, but a rather old one...I'm pretty attached to it, mind.
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:59, archived)
# Oh very posh
but I don't see a monocle or pipe?

I'd post mine but the camera is literally metres away.

In my defence, I am in the process of packing stuff up.

That's what happens when you tell your uni housemates you don't mind which room you get.
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:35, archived)
# Hahahaha!
Our house was re-done last year

Plain walls and everything is new pretty much.

I got the biggest room tho :D
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:36, archived)
# Lucky you.
The wall to the left of this picture has been painted a shade of purple which is almost, but not quite, completely unlike any other colour in the room.
(, Sun 15 Mar 2009, 17:38, archived)
# This is lovely
I really should clean my desk up and do some of this "dusting" but I find I spend too much time procrastinating rather than doing.
