A 16Mbit TR network of 10xIBM PS/2 95 servers and a Madge LAM solely bought by Digital for us guys.

They never found out that it was for Kleinwort Benson's very own Doom (and later, Quake) after-hours network.

I used to go to a pub in Camberwell years and years and years ago where the guy who owned it used to connect two Playstations together with a link cable (remember them?) and spend the afternoon playing Doom on two huge screens, oh yes

Not on the PS, but we were a PC site, so I had the kit to create RS232C crossovers. That was out first "network" between two rigs.

But a grand's worth of enterprise network kit paid for by someone else was much more of a win.
