I haven't posted anything here in so long, it feels strange coming back.
Also last night I made this quick tune in garageband, sounds like it should be used to advertise biscuits or something.
Anyway, does anyone know of any good and preferably free drum sequencers?
Also I'm curious about the setup that any of you music makers have at home.

if you can find Wally to waggle you trough the way

nothing that isn't a spoon should be allowed to look that much like a spoon

if I'd had a mouthful of tea when I saw this I wouldn't have it now
edit: I like your tune, it's like the Incredible String Band doing surf covers
edit ii: Garageband doesn't like VSTs, does it?

I think it has to be in the audio unit format to work. You might be able to convert them though, I've heard of such things.

My home music making setup: I have a dwarf behind a set of various upside down pans for percussion. He beats them with chop sticks. I used to use a smurf instead, but we all know how that ended.
For flutes I have a parrot in a cage. But the cage is usually open. He flies about the place and enjoys all kinds of food, but mostly nuts and bit of fried egg. His voice is a bit lower after eating eggs, but you can't tell from the recordings, so I guess that's alright.

so it's probably for the best there.

I have a thumb piano made into half a gourd

I'm farting around with Reason 4.0 when bored. The rest of my 'setup' only consists of a Soundblaster card with low-latency ASIO characteristics, a pair of AKG monitor headphones and a small USB midi keyboard.

I think a cheap midi keyboard should be my next purchase, i've been looking at reason as well, how is it?

you have a virtual rack and can put loads of synths, samplers, effect devices and so on into it and even turn it around to do the cabling. Nearest I'll ever get to owning real hardware :)
A friend who's really good at making digital music (as opposed to myself) mainly uses Ableton which seems also a good choice
Edit: big downside: no VSTs :(

I can't get on with Reason, too complicated for me (or at least it was 4 years ago)
my midi keyboard is very useful for occupying shelves under my desk
