# Now you're just being silly!

# I'm silly 99.9% of the time

# Hahaha!
Excellent.
TJ: I'm heading for a meeting to discuss my redundancy.
Anyone been through it? What should I demand?
(, Tue 16 Jun 2009, 15:53, archived)
# Never been through it myself I am afraid.
But I would demand the moon on a stick.

Aim high and getting lower will still be good.

# Policy says half a day off a week to look for a job.
I will push it to 5 hours - 9 to 10 am Mon-Fri.

# Arf!
What about pushing to go 4 days a week?
(, Tue 16 Jun 2009, 16:06, archived)
# I'm not sure if there is anything you can demand
I've never been through it myself, mind

(If your employer's dutch, there's a formula which tells you how many months worth of pay you'll be getting.)

# My first boss here was, in fact, Dutch and he was the best
The guy I have now has had his sense of humour removed.
I won't be sorry to go.

# People without a single sense of humour can be very tiresome

# This. I don't think there is much you can 'demand'
Always worth doing some ground work before going into these situations.
When I was made redundant, I called a free information company to see what my options were. I think it was someone like these people: www.communitylegaladvice.org.uk/
Get what you can out of them. If you've been there a fair few years, then you should qualify for a fairly tidy amount, depending on your salary.

# I would demand a brand new Aston Martin DB9
A gold plated Alienware laptop
A speedboat
A vineyard
(, Tue 16 Jun 2009, 16:00, archived)
# I'd need a driver to go with that car
I shall google Alienware
I'd honestly settle for a canoe (if it was in Thailand, of course)
Mmmmmm - vineyard

# I have
and if I remember rightly, the legal minimum is 1 week's pay for every year.
I worked at the company for 10 months, my first permanent job in 20 years. I went back to contracting after that.

I got absolutely sod all and those who had worked there for more than a year got the minimum.

People are usually quicker to jump on somebody who is wrong than to confirm somebody is right so if I am wrong, you will find out soon enough :)
(, Tue 16 Jun 2009, 16:07, archived)
# Standard these days
seems to be a months salary for every year you've worked.

Thats what our place offers
(, Tue 16 Jun 2009, 16:07, archived)
# A month!
Blimey.

From what I have heard over the years, most companies offer a lot more than the legal minimum.

# Ours is still a week. JOE - WHERE DO YOU WORK AND DO YOU NEED A PAYROLLER???
