Have clicked normally until someone can assist.

# hahaha! fantastic!
Would probably cause fewer problems in terms of dodgy images..

Also - b3ta! help! My work might be able to put some money towards the purchase of a netbook so I can work around campus. I can probably only squeeze £100 out of them and will have to supply the rest of the cash myself [but the, i'll get to keep the netbook for myself too]
Netbook needs to be small but usable, and run Office [word/excel/powerpoint/outlook] and internet. I already have a main computer at home so it won't be a replacement PC.

Does anyone know of any good brands/models or equally, any brands/models to steer clear of?
Cheers!

# I have a Samsung NC20
And I'm very happy with it. Good battery, lightweight, works fine. Keyboard is a good usable size too, fine for typing on, unlike the smaller ones where you really have to be careful where you put your man-sized fingers.

# cheers
will look it up!
a good battery would be ace, as i work all over the place and there aren't always handy plugs.

# It's a solid little machine. It uses an Intel Atom and has a gig of RAM, so it's definitely fast enough for word apps and net browsing and whatnot.
I believe it has a 160gb HDD too. The only real drawbacks is that your choice of OS is limited to GNU/Linux or XP, but that's the same with all Netbooks.
(, Thu 1 Oct 2009, 14:43, archived)
# yeah, reviews are looking good!
I think the uni network still runs mostly on XP, so that'd be fine.
Just need to get a bargain from somewhere, hehe

# There's usually a few vendors like ebuyer, microdirect and tigerdirect which'll do what you want much cheaper than a major retailer.
Search around on Google, see what comes up.

# Acer Aspire One's v.nice
Got the Linux version (because I'm a cheapskate) which was a bit bit scary, but with a bit of help from the internet have Linux Mint installed... very quick and does exactly what I need it to do in terms of notebook shenigans - B3ta, email, B3ta, GIMP and other BDSM stuff.
