# This Nixie tube counter will tell you how long it has been since the counter was last fully refreshed
IF:
1) All the images load instantly at the same time
2) Your CPU isn't busy
3) You are using firefox
4) The *.gif's haven't de-synced

CTR+F5 might help, but basically it's useless because .gif syncing is almost impossible.

# Works in IE too
and it is devilish work I tells ya...
P.s what is a Nixie tube, and in what kind of place would one be used.

# It won't keep correct time in IE because
IE plays .gifs slower than FF.

In firefox it keeps perfect time if synced.

ed: Nixie tubes are the predecessor of the 7 digit display.
They used to be used in expensive equipment like elevators and advanced
electronics in the 50's. These days they just make cool retro clocks.

# Regardless of the timing issue, it involves colous and movement
so I am therefore entertained by it :D
and thanks for the explanation, I'd never heard the term before.

# I have it running on time now.
The trick is to open the thread in a new tab, hit CTR+F5 and it should load
fast enough to be close and stay in time in all future tabs (in FF anyway).

# Woo!

edit: seems to work right on Safari.
edit2: Went strange for a bit and so I empty the cache and it seemed to work again.

# That is awesome
although I went off to get breakfast for about 5 mins and it was then reading 1 hour 7 minutes and 29 seconds :S

# Sometimes the gifs
decide to start halfway to 1 or 2 instead of 0.
This is why no one uses them for clocks.

# pesky gifs
It is now on 2 hours 12 min.

I feel like I am in some kind of steam punk delorean....It's awesome :D

# Gaah! your right!
It turns out the gif cant count past 32320 and i needed a count of 360000.
I replaced the hour counter with 12x30000 frames (no extra file size).
Fixed. Thanks.

# Or 12 frames that show for an hour each?
(, Sun 18 Oct 2009, 9:16, archived)
# Can't be done
To show for an hour the gif needs to count to 360000.
It can only count up to 32320 per frame.
(, Sun 18 Oct 2009, 9:19, archived)
# How about two frames of 180000 for each number?
(, Sun 18 Oct 2009, 9:50, archived)
# 180000>32320

# despite the explainations above
i still have no idea what this means, someone give me a call a few minutes before the world ends, i want to go out with a steaming hot mug of tea grasped firmly in my hand.

edit/ on second thoughts don't leave it so late, the tea will warm itself as the planet explodes thus saving a bit of electric and helping to reduce my carbon footprint, green til the end.
