(Illegible, but the img size is smaller... and I'd also like to apologise to all the b3tadoodz who've been inconvenienced by the file size of this inconsiderate post. After that, fuck ya. Frankly, I don't really feel all that apologetic.)

It was a game called Trackmania that I'd been told good things about.
But two hours of trying to download the cunt stubbornly remained at 0%.
So I'll stick to my Nintendo DS.

I just took a look at the Trackmania site, and I can't see how to download it. It looks like all the download buttons are disabled.
Is it basically on online racing game, or is there a single player game you can play locally?

one can indeed play it locally offline.
But my employers' laptop wouldn't let me do that.
And online games are - obviously - for twats.
Hence the retreat into DS-land.

And I did have the grace to apologise for the size of the file.

I'm not just being a cunt. There are still plenty of people on here with very limited bandwidth. I doubt your apology will really help with that.
Also: if you haven't got decent hosting of your own, use the built-in b3ta hosting. That way the file will actually cache. As the file stands, every time the page is reloaded it pulls down another 180kb.

But generally speaking, if it's a lot of text and flat blocks of colour, gif it and reduce the number of colours to reduce filesize. If it's a photo or lots of gradiated colour, jpg and reduce the 'quality' slider to reduce filesize.
SRSLY a 180kb is not a big deal and I'm mainly just being a dick because, well, I'm a dick. But the fact that it isn't cacheing is going to mean a lot of bandwidth for some users.

this made me smile. A b3ta intervention, what a frightening idea.
