# have you seen teh amount of movies they are currently trying to remake?
it's just heartbreaking what they are trying to cash in on...

Flight of the Navigator? Karate Kid? Robocop? Total Recall?

WHY?!?!?

# Easy money, I'm guessing.
And a complete lack of creativity on the part of Hollywood. There's still some good stuff coming out from non-US sources.

Sadly, for every 'The Lives of Others' or '36' we get 10 'Saw' sequels and the like.

# or those god-awful spoof "movie" movies
epic movie, superhero movie, disaster movie, ad infinitum

# and then, there's *shudders*
Will 'No, I am funny really' Ferrell....

See also Adam Sandler, etc etc etc etc

# Indeed what has happened to the genuinely funny people?
There is no new talent just people who act and we are told these are funny guys and we must find them funny else we are not funny and are void of a sense of humour.

# Saturday Night Live must shoulder some
of the blame.

# Americans have lost their sense of humour
as Friday and Saturday Night Live did launch some genuine funny people - Mike Myers, Steve Martin (in his early stuff), Bill Murray etc.

# Steve Carel is funny
even if his film choices leave a bit to be desired

And I like Seth Rogen too.

But I prefer comedies where they use proper actors.
Like Midnight Run

# Because children are stupid, uppity and precocious
As such, they generally won't go to see "old" films, so if they "remake" them, they're more attractive, they can make more money out of the same francise, and generally buying the rights is cheaper than employing scripwriters and all that bollocks to come up with something original and/or interesting.

# my favourite
non-remade film is Gone in 60 Seconds.

# I watched Hitchcock's The Birds for the first time the other day.
Partly because Mrs V and I bought a box set of 14 HCs in the sales, and partly because I heard on here that they're remaking it.

# that is a scary film
it gets in your head, much better than modern nonsense like Saw that rely on shocks and gore. Bet they ruin the remake by changing the birds into Nazguls or something.

# My Mum saw it at the cinema when it first came out.
When she got home a pigeon had got down the chimney and was sat waiting for them, all sooty and panicky...
