There were several reasons I grew disillusioned with this place around that time,
but that's one of the main ones. However good people's intentions were - and I have no reason to suggest they weren't - I didn't like a b3ta user's death being hijacked to funnel money into a charity that smelled off even then, run by a credulous nutjob.

Haven't been there in ten years (!!!)
but nothing about the place caused me concern regarding the welfare of the animals on any of my visits there. Certainly I've seen far more stressed-looking animals in other, higher-profile zoos.
Not sure what's been going on since 2014 though, I stopped going when he started going down the conspiraloon rabbit hole...

Hopefully any remaining animals will be taken care of properly, and justice is served. If he's not guilty of any wrongdoing, fantastic. If he is found guilty, then it's all the fault of the Jews swapping the north and south poles to deny Brexit and create the next pandemic so they can inject fake vaccines to kill us all.

I bought a camera on a fellow b3ta user's [very knowledgeable] recommendation about 15-16 years ago.
I took it to a London bash soon afterwards, and I have a vivid memory of him demonstrating how to use it by taking an upskirt picture of another /board user's unsuspecting partner as she was reclining on a sofa next to the wall opposite in the pub.
I just dug out some photos from 2009, and there it is.

He took *loads* of pictures on my camera that day, that was one among hundreds. I didn't delete any of them, they were just there. I remember thinking at the time that it was a bit creepy of him to take a picture of an unsuspecting woman who was exposing slightly more flesh than she probably realised, but 'upskirting' wasn't a word then and I honestly didn't give it much thought since.
Now I've found it I'll add it to the wank bank, obviously.

Skimping on animal welfare, selling off cats on the side, and delaying putting in audited accounts, point to an org that’s got itself into financial shit and can’t pay its way. He did get a bit whacky towards the end. Probable that delusional thinking extended to his fiscal decisions
