My nan’s reaction to Trump’s speech outside the courtroom just now:
“I see he left his concertina at home today.”

It's a landmark, but I wouldn't be celebrating until he faces actual consequences. Fines means nothing to him, and the nightmare scenario is the inevitable appeals dragging out until the election.

I think the $355m on, top of the $88m fine was a bit of a problem for him
and while he's challenged them, the interest is ticking up and he's gonna have to pay out at some point.

Unfortunately
He has the $3bn due in 4 months from the gravity defying Truth Social shares. How a shrinking company with basically zero revenue and yuge losses is worth $$$ is a mystery. (spoiler : it’s 21st century money laundering)

All good, but the wrong trial.
I really wanted the classified documents case to be tried because that gets to the heart of how he acted as president. Unfortunately that’s being run by a judge he appointed, who has engineered delay after delay so that it now won’t conclude before November.

Never mind classified documents, I want charges to be brought on inciting a fucking insurrection, but we all know that's never going to happen.

At last he can free up time for all his other court appearances
Does NY have a three strikes policy for criminal convictions?

As if it will make any difference
He can still get elected and be President, plus it makes the Democrats look like they were out to get him because they had to twist laws to prosecute him. It will backfire and was a stupid move. They should have got him onsomething solid, not this drivel.
The democrats need to beware of unintended consequences: it won't change the minds of people who hated him, but it could tempt others to vote for him if they are not happy with the way this has been conducted.

twist laws?
he falsified business records to hide hush money so that damaging true information about his affair with a porn star after his wife had just given birth wouldn't come out before an election. Both of these things are crimes. There were hand written notes entered as evidence that proved the arrangement beyond reasonable doubt.
Whatever bullshit his supporters swallow, doesn't mean you have to buy into it too.

But that isn't the point. And those points are arguable, statute of limitaions, corporate responsibility vs personal etc. It's like getting Capone on tax evasion
I think he is an absolute slimeball and detest the man, but the democrats are so eager to find anything to disallow him from being president that they have made themselves look like the bad guys, especially when Biden has a big grin on his face when asked about it. Hardly presidential behaviour on all sides.
