I don't know why I care enough to start a petition. I mean the whole Newt story arc only hits if you know that she left her daughter behind never to see her again due to the cryosleep times required to do space travel

This is a normal post I disagree, it's a strong story arc even without the additional context in the director's cut.
And her daughter is never mentioned in any of the other films, whereas Jones was an integral character in Alien.

This is a normal post The space travel in Alien was only meant to last a few months each way, discovering the alien stretched the return trip to 10 months.
In Aliens she's told that she's been under for 57 years but that appears to be a plot point to allow for the planet to have been terraformed and populated and for any warning to have been forgotten/downplayed/ignored.

Ripley being under for 57 years doesn't equate to it taking 57 years to reach the planet.

She was the last survivor in a horror film by chance, and, by chance, was a main protagonist in the action sequel, and, by chance, was an anti-hero in the stylistically confused horror sequel IN WHICH SHE FUCKING DIED.
