But...really people enough with the whole GC, Glasscock. Thing it has made this part of B3ta depressingly dull at times, there is no need.
Simply because you have seen it on here once before nearly 3 weeks ago, does not mean everyone else has to be told this

Just the people who come here and think its something you have to shout at every post like it's some demented game of twat snap.

You've got to say something right?

the only purpose seems to be to belittle the OP

calling "GC" on a bullshit old post is ABSOLUTELY necessary in keeping the high standard of /links.
i've been called on it several times, and rightfully so.
its the only way.
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 17:27, Reply)

:D I really do hope you are joking
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 17:29, Reply)

Until there is a way of identifying something posted before, no matter from what source, there will be duplicated posts. Fact. Shouting GC all the time does piss people off, and some folks do nothing but this. Sad really, as this place started so well.
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 18:26, Reply)

BUT:
really, people using /links should be encouraged to be USING /LINKS
i.e. reading the day's posts, as well as the previous few days posts
i.e. being up to date
i.e. not duplicating posts
The GC system encourages this, i think.
Sure, some people get upset about it... but its the system's way of policing itself for a better /links
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 19:07, Reply)

Sure, it sounds ridiculous.
But it works.
why else do you think people do it?
Just to be dicks?
B3tans ARE pricks, but c'mon...

GC system?
The 'term' is about the most irritating thing about this place. What are you on about reading the day's posts, as well as the previous few days posts, being up to date, not duplicating posts before daring the wrath of a few teenage muppets who obviously spend to much time on the internet. You can't possibly expect everyone to be that 'careful' about linking stuff here; most of us don't take this place that seriously, for all the right reasons
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 19:29, Reply)

seriously.
?
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 19:40, Reply)

seriously, what does typing it achieve? If you've seen it before here why not just ignore the post, or reply ah that again; I enjoyed that in 2004; using the term just comes across as slightly wanky; you cannot possibly think it's an actual 'system' of regulation; which would be even more retarded a concept if you think about
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 19:49, Reply)

and a good one.
It does come across as harsh... but that's the point.
Imagine how many additional old-repeat links we'd get if we didn't have the GC system.
If it was a free-for-all any-bullshit-can-get-posted-and-get-away-with-it-without-complaints system then i'm sure a lot of folks would not be here.
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 19:53, Reply)

A lot of folks are not here anymore exactly because of lots of teenagers yelling it at every turn
but I can hear my pizza arriving outside so will bid thee adios, ultimately it just seems a bit to juvenile to be honest
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 20:02, Reply)

but, we shouldn't be so hard on "teenagers". I'm sure there are plenty on here that are just swell. Just like there are plenty of non-teenagers here that probably ain't.
I can't complain.
If I were to start, I just wouldn't visit here, instead.
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 20:10, Reply)

this is why i very seldom stray over here from QOTW
do you really think anyone has the time or inclination to troll through the days links in case - shock horror - it has been posted twice previously. sorry 10 hours at work makes that a bit difficult, if there is still a link on page 1 of the BBC news feed its hardly 'glasscock'.
you'll be delighted to hear i wont be back
fucking losers
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 20:16, Reply)

Just as you do with every GC you spout. Calm down, chill out and get a grip ffs. You should go on /Board, you would fit in a treat.
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 22:30, Reply)

"I'm here for the links... not to make friends" is generally not going to endear you to people around here
( , Mon 2 Mar 2009, 23:37, Reply)

i just really think that GC keeps us in check.
its part of what keeps me coming back here.
keeps the links good.
...by minimizing the bad.
that's all i really care about.
