... I got taken to a lecture when I was a kid (like, 30 years ago) where a guy called Cyril Eisenberg demoe'd this. Never forgotten it, it felt like magic.
He did some mental things with smoke rings, too...

I remember this
from many years ago. Not sure what tv show it was on, but they used the same technique and showed that, in reality, the M5, M6 and M1 pretty much followed the bubble/peg model.

The square root of 2 is about 1.44. You seem to be using 1.41.
