It's so fun mucking around on a bass with a delay pedal
I recently got an 8-string bass, and this is the best thing to do with it.

It's a double-string
Like a 12-string guitar is for a guitar, but a bass:
It's a such a warm sound. Loving it :)

Okay, I (genuinely) take that back.
I had no idea these even existed. I just assumed that it was like a six-string bass but two strings more wanky. As an aside: If space/money/guilt were no object, I'd get a tenor guitar- they sound ace.

I think I've heard of those
Some of the guys I work with tried out a fender VI baritone guitar thingy at a shop somewhere. They came to work the next day covered in jizz*, saying that I needed to try it.
*may be hyperbole
