This is a link post Lets try Ceasium........
I've no doubt most have seen these sorts of reactions before, but I remember this exact one from my School days, I found it fascinating at the time and love the matter of fact way he suggests the 5th metal!

GC Be damned!

Makes you wanna try Francium...

Also, lo and behold, your students have been thoroughly taught the alkali metals, and are likely to remember them.

This is a normal post I've always loved science-y stuff anyways,
Throw in a few explosions and I'm totally sold!

i think it's almost impossible to actually have Francium as it reacts so quickly almost everything...

I do love this video, takes me back to 2nd year high school chemistry

This is a normal post I remember this one too.
I guess that either means that this particular video was much better than all the others or they were the ones willing to try it!

Felt disappointed after that we not allowed to try this out ourselves.

I also remember a truly awesome science teacher called Miss Penfold (i think) who got hold of some lithium, placed the giant petri dish thingy with water in it ON TOP OF the overhead projector, then put drops of food colouring in and projected the trippy whizzing around lithium on the classroom wall.

it was awesome, best science teacher ever. Though she failed to teach me what the name of the big glass petri thingy is actually called.

Also the day before a "meet the teachers" parents evening she accidentally set fire to her classroom ceiling with magnesium powder.

This is a normal post Sounds fantastic.
My sister is a science teacher, I'll suggest that she do this (if they even have overhead projectors these days).

This is a normal post Yay, classic chemistry! I remember watching this exact video too.
Anyone wondering why they didn't use Francium: it's radioactive and extremely rare. At any one time there's about 20g of it in the whole Earth - so it's not something you'll find in the lab store cupboard.
