This is a link post Vigil for Our Dad I made this!
I don't know if this is appropriate to share semi-publicly but anyway.

Our Dad died peacefully at home on Saturday morning aged 98. Since March lockdown I have been his primary carer and maintainer of his independence (he only stopped mowing the lawn in October).

But every evening while he watched Eggheads or Channel 5 documentaries, I made strange films on my laptop, so I could be present but keep my sanity. This is the one I made while sat with him in his room for the last couple of weeks.

The footage of him at the end is from two weeks ago and not too upsetting I hope, he was explicit in his readiness to check out and said he wouldn't recommend getting old to anyone.

Thank you x

erit: now viewable, thanks

Doing well thanks, it wasn't a shock, more of a relief as he'd always been so active until recently.

This is a normal post Sorry to hear that Fred.
98 though, and still mowing the lawn last month, sounds like a good innings as they say.

This is a normal post Indeed,
He hated having to use a walker, but he loved his mower, so I did seriously think of bringing the mower indoors in order to stop him toppling over all the time.

This is a normal post Words are shit and lame but I am sorry for your loss
Glad that with your help he stayed at home and was active until the end. I have an elderly Father and I know they can be very frustrating and almost drive you mad at times. They are young people trapped in failing bodies.

This is a normal post Yes!

He hated having to use a walker, but he loved his mower, so I ended up bringing the mower indoors to stop him falling over all the time. Funny really.

This is a normal post My condolences, Fred.
You are obviously a good son. Your Dad's keen fashion sense, what with the snazzy jim-jams and immaculate hair, have obviously been an inspiration for your own slick look.
I hope your grief subsides as quickly as possible.
