Tb2571989 says Bad Management isn't just a great name for a heavy metal band - what kind of rubbish work practices have you had to put up with?

this one has the ring of authenticity

Agreed. Our management is currently 'struggling' with the decision of whether to ditch Notes or accept the upgrade to the 8.5 version. So far the argument has been made based on cost and impact to end users. But I think they need to look at the IBM strategy for Notes, which is awful. They seem to see it as its own little operating system, sitting inside Windows. And the resource requiremnts for the client are bonkers. It's a no-brainer decision for me. Sure it will cost us money to make the transition, but it will save us money in the long run, given our strategy for the rest of the desktop is Microsoft. Daft.

The interface is even worse than it was.

fucking awful. I never thought I'd pine for email software, but when they took away my Outlook, I did.

to lotus users is the devil re-incarnate but why don't you upgrade to Exchange 2010, is it because you have too many critical apps integrated with lotus? Message me if you need any help with migrations.
*shameless plug* :\

get back under your stone... your msce is worthless :OP
Edit: I'm a self confessed mong but no MCSE

not one to pick up on spelling mistakes but Microsfot...please. Apologies if there was some irony there.
Personally I prefer IBM in general but their e-mail is DTM, but i would prefer to be doing MS migrations from lotus than vice versa. I have seen your edit and want to take the edge off my post. I am a MS mong but sadly not through choice, have to go where the money is. MS have destroyed notes over the years :(

Notes vs Exchange ... no competition but IBM vs Microsoft, gotta be IBM if only for the support of Open Source Geeks

there idea to make their development tools open source was a master stroke, let the geeks inherit the work ;)

but it doesn't change the overall situation for me. Take away mail and Domino is just another application development platform competing with all the others. And I don't think it will ever match applicatoins built on relational databases.

more years ago than I am capable of remembering comfortably, for which it was great.
Sucks donkey balls at email, though.

But it is terrible. Groupwise on the other hand is far, far worse...

Lotus Notes is a truly wonderful piece of software engineering, with more bells and whistles, ok not all integrated or user friendly, than you could shake a stick at.
But give it another 15 years, and when it's finished, I assure you it will be ace.
I don't work for IBM by the way.

We're still languishing on version 6.5.4.
Fun times believe me.
