Solutions opportunity
No. It's called a problem.

This and "it's not a problem, it's a CHALLENGE."
No, it's a problem. Problems have solutions. What do challenges have? Fights. I don't want to get in a fight with my computer. It will only end in tears. Besides, my computer doesn't even have a glove to slap me in the face with.

Challenge
Drives me mad. The only reason people use this word in conversation is when there's likely to be a financial impact from the outcome, and to avoid startling the client. It's a sneaky way of highlighting that the shit is about to hit the fan on record, but not to draw inordinate attention to it.

Invariably the client gets royally shafted due to some huge oversight and everyone dancing around the problem like fairies. But it's ok - we highlighted these challenges earlier.

ha
We use this ironically at work, ie we have so many problems we need to fix if we rename them as solution opportunities it sound better, full in the knowledge that we are f**ked.

Oh my good God!
Seriously? This is really used? I think I would lamp someone for this one, with impunity!

I'm glad it's not just me :)
Ever had one of those days when you're just about to finish up, your thinking about how you'll unwind for the rest of the day, then a little gem is landed on your lap.

Your day goes south, and you end up spending 24+ hours banging your head against the brick wall, desperately trying get a production system back into operation before people start to get shouty.

The last thing you need after all of that is an over-happy, clueless, eejit asking how we deal with these solution opportunities going forward.

We start
"..by smashing you repeatedly around the head and shoulders with a dictionary and thesaurus in a pillow case"
