I used to use AVG, but eventually got sick of everything taking 10-15 minutes to load, or crashing.

If it's making stuff run slowly, go and get some more RAM. I have 4gb and I never even notice AVG running, updating or owt. So there.

Yes, the problem I had was it was running on a cheap laptop with jerry-built RAM that lasted about six weeks.
