My Biggest Disappointment
Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."
Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.
What's disappointed you lot?

Music is my first love...
I embrace all music – but every now and again, like a man with one leg shorter than the other, I do tend to lean a certain way.
Now, I don’t want to start any arguments here* but my rant issue here is with two bands in particular, Radiohead and The Manic Street Preachers.
Great Bands…but how could they follow up such classic albums as ‘The Bends’, ‘OK Computer’, ‘The Holy Bible’ and ‘Everything Must Go’, with steaming piles of cockroach turd like ‘Kid A’ and ‘This is my Truth…’ which are about as entertaining as the little bits of black ‘sock grime’ that manifests between your toes at the end of the day?
I waited fucking ages for those pieces of shit to be released...and that's time I just can't get back. They owe me.
I didn’t change…why did they?

@Pooflake
Agreed - I haven't listened to anything Radiohead have done since I was so disappointed by Kid A, and I boycotted the Manics at Leeds Fest in 2001 due to the shit they were churning, even though everyone said the set was great and stuffed with classics.

I tried Kid A again yesterday
Some good stuff on there, but a little too many beep for me. Thanks good they came back with Hail to the Theif.
I quite like 'This is my truth' too...

In respect of the Manics - I really don't think they've topped The Holy Bible. I disagree about Radiohead, though: I thought that Kid A was ace. Not much looking forward to standing in a field in the rain to see them on Sunday, all the same. I'd been banking on a walm, balmy evening...

Kid A grew on me
But yes, it's a bit much. But Hail to the Thief was great - it was like they'd come through the weird shit and it all made sense again. Haven't heard the latest one.

^^
I haven't heard anything from the new one at all.
Both bands are pretty much relegated to my youth, as I branched out into far heavier music about 12 years ago and it was only recently I've diversified a bit and got into stuff like Sons and Daughters, back to Joy Division, and developed a strange Nick cave obsession.

Agree with enzyme
Also I liked "This is my truth".
No album compares to London Calling though

@ Enzyme...
Ooh..I dunno...I downloaded 'In Rainbows' and just wasn't impressed by any of the tracks.
(granted, I just skipped through).
I hope it's a 'grower' (fnarr) but I just long for the time when they used to thrash out and Thom Yorke used to do a properly powerful bit of singing - not the whiney techno pap he indulges in now.
I feel they experiment a bit too hard in straying from conformity (like skipping beats / changing chords and tempos for the sake of it instead of it being good for the song)
Still...what do I know? I must concede they've sold a couple more albums than I have.

Music is my first love.
And it will be my last.
Music of the future.
And music of the past.
Sorry!

@ BGB...
I've shown my age a bit with the title haven't I?
I've got that song (specifically the 'rocking out' bit) in my head now...
curses!

!!!
Radiohead are awesomeness to the max. Sure they can produce crap (just look at pablo honey) but kid A was a great album but they had nailed that sound by HTTT which is my all time favourite album.
In rainbows was a bit of a disappointment as i felt it didn't live up to radiohead standards but its still better than most commercial crap out there.
'mon the Radiohead

No, no, no
The problem is, if you write the same album twice, then it's not as good the second time round. With the exception of Don Quixote (have a read of "Pierre Menard: Author of the Quixote", it's funny, in a pretentious sort of way). Music's a very personal thing too. And if you hear something for the first time when you're in a bad mood, it's as likely to affect your opinion as much as whether it's actually a piece of shit or not. I'm lucky, I got as much out of every Radiohead album as the last, and still wait with anticipation for the next. And I liked Motorcycle Emptiness, but the Manics never did it for me otherwise... personal thing you see...

I feel the same way about the Stereophonics
Everything after 'Word Gets Around' and 'Performance and Cocktails' was utter horsepish
