He may have a point.
But he damages his credibility enormously by suggesting that anyone who takes these things seriously would think that "... the ability of you and I to talk with each other" is preferable "... the ability of you and me to talk with each other" (because you would write about "... the ability of me to talk..." not "... the ability of I to talk..."). It is not the same type of argument at all.
