Worst idea ever
1. Assuming our power needs are the same as that of the 70's, then yes we might have a couple of hundred years left down there. Given that our power needs have grown and will continue to, I'd estimate that it's more like 50 years left.
2. Coal is one of the most polluting and damaging sources of energy going. Do you really want to live in a flooded, smoggy Britain with strip mines all over the countryside?
