Who were your heroes or villains of the last year, and why? Who inspired you? Who had you kicking the cat across the room? They don't have to be well known, you might even want to laud the achievements of your binman. (Note that "Nick Clegg nuff said" answers puts you straight onto our naughty list)

For my housing association as a villain ,all the sinks in my flat have been majorly blocked since christmas eve. Apparently they can't anyone to come out until the third of january. This has a knock on effect meaning that when I turned the washing machine on it subsequently flooded the kitchen and ruining a huge section of the carpet. I even used bicarb and vinegar eventually took some of the over flow apart to see if I could reach the blockage,no such luck.
I nominate for the heroes section the poor woman who I ranted at for at least an hour to try and get something sorted. I feel sorry for that..

What's stopping you from unblocking them yourself?

Call a fucking plumber. Those of us who don't get handed a nice free house have to sort this shit ourselves.
Edit: What kind of moron has carpet in the kitchen anyway, it must be filthy....... And people wonder why stereotypes persist...

But I know of people in HA houses who don't, so this person might, or might not.
And I believe that if they do pay rent, it's a teeny tiny rent. I know someone with a huge 4 bed council house who pays £150 a month.
So I still have no sympathy. Sorry.
And housing payments aside, why can't they ring a plaumber like the rest of us?
Knickers duly twisted, flouncing off to sit on my high horse....

but I can't help but see someone's point of view when they get loudly sneered at by the ignorant and the reactionary.

You may need to repeat this if it's severe.
Also, wear gloves. It's called "caustic" soda for a reason.

What about cutting Mars?
EDIT: For OP - spend more time fixing & less time whinging, it may resolve the situation.
A shit load of hard yakka with a plunger, a hose down the drain and some bicarb and vinegar down the plughole may help.
Or just caustic soda.

So I'm told.

Failing that, buy a sink plunger and some caustic soda.

As such, it is the building owner's responsibility to maintain the drainage.
Amazing lack of knowledge about social housing on some people's part here.
Another thing worth a try is a plunger, very hot water and a fair whack of washing-up liquid. If that doesn't work, then the caustic.

Therefore, one might reasonably suppose that a mixture of caustic soda and washing up liquid would work very well - though you'd need to mix them up using cold water, as caustic soda generates a lot of heat when it's dissolved.

It turned out that they all join the main soil pipe through a single connection. Therefore my problem.
Caustic soda and a plunger.

Caustic soda is one of the best agents for destroying eyes that there is. If you're using a plunger, wear some eye protection.

Thanks for the help, and the carpets in the hallway. I didn't notice the flood until I got home and yeah I've spoke to some neighbours they have the same problem.
I'll try this caustic soda tomorrow. Cheers b3ta.
