Song of the day brought to you by the letters V, J and the number 1/8th
Xavier Rudd - Generation Fade

If you like mellow, guitary, didgerdoo-filled music then this is for you.

in a fit of brilliance, my ipod has followed the above with Beast and the Harlot by Avenged Sevenfold.

This will surely appeal to all
the Jurassic Park fans out there ...

How long would you last, chained to a bunk bed, with a velociraptor?

I didn't last very long....

I can't be bothered to look through the QOTW suggestions
So I'll say it here. My friend just told me about her dream last night. She dreamt the entire dancing pink elephants scene from Dumbo, only at the end one of them pooed out Bobby Davro.

I'm pretty sure that's the best dream of all time.

The day thread is over
400 posts long.
Mr Bin is cooking dinner, all though he claims a Korma isn't a curry.

What are you having for dinner and what isn't it?

Anyone remember a track by CJ Bolland called The Prophet?
it's a banging club tune with a rant by Willem Defoe from Last Temptation of Christ at the beginning.

my ipod has just graced me with it.

it's awesome

In my pottery class
last night, the teacher kept on and on about how important rimming is, and that the rim is the best part, as that's the part that touches the lips.

And I was the one that got the odd looks as I was giggling inanely by the end of her little lecture. Either rimming doesn't have the same meaning in the USA as it does in the UK, or I'm in a class full of naive and god fearing lesbians. Or both.

Tell me I'm normal for finding that funny...

So earlier...
I dropped my parents at the airport.
I pulled up, and they got out to get their bags from the boot.

While they were doing this, a po-lice man walked over to the car and tapped on my window.

I lowered it, and he said "Good afternoon sir. Once your passengers have gone, I'd like to have a chat with you."

Panic. Mental checklist: Coat-pocket Inventory:
One knife (legal).
Bottle of whisky (half empty).
Packet of cigarettes (full).

Ok...

"Sure officer."

He walks round to get in the passenger door, just as my Mum passes him.
She gives him a funny look, and says "Excuse me, I just need to give my son this", and passes me the fiver she'd borrowed earlier.

The Pig-man looks confused, says "He's your son? Oh..." then turned to me and said "That'll be all, thank you."

Then he wandered off.

What the fuck?
Suggestions?

New albums
This popular music shenanigans has recently spawned 3 new albums, each eagerly anticipated in their own way.

Not sure how many of you are into the current music "scene" (ahem) but having listened to all 3 a few times recently I can offer VERY brief reviews.

If you've heard the albums add your own :)

Glasvegas - Glasvegas (7/10)

Takes its time to kick off, some absolutely cracking tracks but equally a few fillers. Compared to JAMC for some reason - can't see it myself. Oh and the lead singers thick weegie accent would make the Proclaimers wince but it does grow on you....

Kings of Leon - Only by the night (3/10)

Probably a completely biased review here as I've never liked KoL. As with the previous 3 albums the songs all sound the same to me and I still can't decipher what the guy is saying. No standout tracks to report :(

Oasis - Dig out your soul (6/10)

Again, I'm far from the biggest fan of Oasis but this albums quite good. Pisses over their other recent efforts and even includes some buzzery/computery kind of effects. Like a half-arsed attempt to throw in some OK Computer sound effects at the end/start of some songs.

Some nice hooks in there, but arguably the same-old same-old Oasis sound....

Embarrasment
In work we were just having a bit of a laugh and joke, talking about how we'll all sue him for stupid reasons.

My favourite one being "The drawers in my desk are too loud"

I decided to follow this up telling him that using my mouse and keyboard in a certain way can cause RSI.

Unfortunately, it came out like this - "My mouse hand gets used in an awkward position so often, I think I'm starting to develop IBS"

That's right, I mixed them up, and have just put up with 10 people laughing hysterically at me.

Arse.

Morning all!
Today's topic for discussion, following on from the end of last night's thread:

If you could modify your body, either plastic surgery, cyborg implants etc, what would you do?

Points for being 100% happy with your body :)

Photo Caption Site
Another completely pointless application from the Legless Labs.

www.daftdoggy.com/caption/

It's a site that let's up upload an image and add speech bubbles. Basic functionality is there. Later I'll add the ability to resize speech bubbles and images.

Here's one I did earlier...

Cheers

You've been pwn3d by the Romans, you've been sacked by the Vikings, you've been bombed by Zee Germanss- now you're gonna be invaded by the Loon!

Bwaaahaaahaaahaaahaaa.....

BTW, anyone know where I can get a Guy Fawkes mask while I'm here? I need to bring something back for my son, and thought that he would appreciate that the most...

Can we get back to JMG, and JMG's fashion?
Are there any of you fuller figured liars who wish to bring up points of JMG debate, this evening?

Please, no fat birds.

Acoustic Tunes...

The HSH OT board has slid into the 'favourite songs' mode again and this has reminded me of something...

'The Belmers' which is the...ahem...'band' that consists of Captain Placid and I, are to play an acoustic gig in a week or so (he's put it in the calendar as a b3ta bash...woo!)

www.b3ta.com/calendar/event/16283

But we're at a loss of which songs to play.

Obviously the more well known the better, but can anybody think of any songs to suggest that are either:

a) Acoustic
or b) would sound good played acoustically.

we're playing to an audience that might just reach double figures here folks so suggestions would be appreciated...

Staying in London
Right, I have to spend one night a week in London from now til Christmas. Work does not pay for this as I should be living in London in the first place instead of in my smugly chilled-out, much cheaper West Country home.

Normally if I stay over in the Big Smoke I kip at either my friend's house (but she has a family crisis at the mo and I don't want to intrude) or on another mate's sofa (but I don't want to push his hospitality too far) and they get a nice dinner in return.

So, I've seen schemes before where people find Monday-Friday lodgings in London. Does anyone know if single night lodging schemes exist? My other option is the youth hostel near my office but that's currently filled with students as Halls are packed to capacity, so if anyone knows of cheap, safe accommodation in East/SE London then I'm all ears.

(The only reason I don't simply commute each day for two days is that a peak-time return ticket costs near £150 for the pleasure of sitting on a broken down train somewhere outside Wootton Bassett.)

So T3h Force Unleashed has been out for a few days.
What does everyone think?

I got the Wii version and I am having great fun playing it even though its way to easy, but there's still a part of me that expected so much more.

I am going to get it for the 360 if general consensus is that its worth it.

Am I alone in wanting my QOTW stats to show in my profile?
I am referred to as a lurker a lot and it makes me cut my palms with a large knife as it gives me sick pleasure.

Petty gits
I'm currently living in a serviced apartment pending a move to Japan. The staff are generally a nice bunch, but a couple appear to have sizeable chips on their shoulders...

Here's an email I sent to the company dealing with the letting agency on my behalf:

(Edited to move the main bit into a reply... I almost forgot where I was for a moment!)

Books
Following on from ChickenLady last week, I was talking to a friend about books and he recommended The Time Travellers Wife.

I was drunk when he was telling me, so aside from knowing it's about the wife of a time traveller, I know little else. It sounded good though.

Any other recommendations, drunken or otherwise?
