It's Friday, thank fuck.
Morning all!

I'm a little tired, stayed up watching episodes of various things, while keeping track of us winning The Ashes. Now I just need to get today out of the way, and I'll be an extra happy bastard.

What is the best thing you've seen recently? Be it a film, an episode of a TV series, a sporting result, anything?

Alt Q: What films do you want to see, but simply haven't got round to? I've never seen "It's a Wonderful Life", and really want to, I've just never caught it on television.

I saw 127 Hours last night and it was toe-curlingly, arm-choppingly good.

(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 8:42, Reply)
It does look superb...
In fact, I'd give my right arm to see it.
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 8:48, Reply)
I stayed up too late with my copy of Stephen Hawking's The Grand Design.
Around 11.15pm I turned a page and the heading was "What is Reality?" I thought this an apt moment to close my eyes and dream about toast and space hoppers.
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 8:46, Reply)
Space hoppers? I can't imagine they spread very well.
Unlike you, Noel, you slag.

It's just that it's compulsory on Tuesdays, that's all.

(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 8:57, Reply)

Poetry? Seriously?
Fine, yes, I once wrote a blog about how the only song that suited my mood on my playlist was 'Wake Me Up When September Ends'. That's about it really.

Poetry is a new one though...

I have never seen any Godfather, Rocky or Rambo films
I have also never seen It's a Wonderful Life

Couldn't really give a shit.

I watched the latest Resident Evil film the other night. It was alright. So was the latest Harry Potter film.

In fact, I've seen loads of films that were all alright recently. Except Tron: Legacy, which was great.
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:12, Reply)
Tron is awesomez I may have to go see it again
I watched Gamer the other night, it's delightfully shit.
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:13, Reply)
*Tron fives*
not heard of the Gamer

I'm looking forward to Cowboys and Aliens.

It stars Chompy as a WoW-obsessed loner
who goes on a 'trenchcoat mafia' style rampage, killing all of the people who called him a rapist on the internet.

Paul Ross gives it five stars.
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:17, Reply)
sounds good

(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:18, Reply)
It's with Gerard Butler and is directed by the guy who did Crank
and at some point someone went "you know what would make this film better? BOOBS! Like all the time, in the background, random flashing whatevs" and all the other guys went "heehee boobs"
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:18, Reply)
that sounds awesome in every way

(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:20, Reply)
It also has Peter Petrelli from Heroes in it as a weird gimp
And the guy who plays Dexter, and there's a musical number in it...

It has everything!
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:23, Reply)
Oh I just love a 'musical number', me.

(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:27, Reply)
I doubt you love anything

I only own tigar, leopard cow and cow thongs... and for when things get really hawt, some dental floss and catoring gold sheets.

I might go see Tron on Tuesday.
Cheap night ftw!
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:14, Reply)
First Blood is really quite good.
It's worth watching, anyway.
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:16, Reply)
it's one of those things were if it's on and I've got nothing else to do
or am too stoned to change the channel then I'll watch it.

There are a number of "classic" films that I haven't seen, through never really having the opportunity. Life's too short to seek them all out and watch them.
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:18, Reply)
Life's too short?
When you've just touted being too stoned to move as a possibility?
What a mong.
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:21, Reply)
I love you.

doing it or talking about it?

(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:32, Reply)
I don't end to get 'pissed up'.
A little squiffy sometimes, but that's it.
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:33, Reply)
I can't remember the last time I was too stoned to move
the reference to it above was a bit of an over-dramatisation
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:36, Reply)
DRAMA QUEEN

(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:37, Reply)
SHUT UP

I was hoping that no one had noticed that
in hindsight that was a foolish thing to hope

However, they refunded me every time I wrote.

(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:50, Reply)
different than seems to be more widely accepted
And is used a lot in films where someone thinks they have made a friend, friend turns out to still be a cunt long speech ending in "you're no different than the rest of 'em" *boobs* *explosion* *cheering* *some kind of make up scene*

END
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:39, Reply)
"different to" seems more correct than "different than"
to me at least
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:41, Reply)
Well that's because you're a mong

I think I've had a breakthrough
I now find football even more boring than cricket
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 9:59, Reply)
bloody hell wasn't aware that was possible. Cricket is shite
but then so are some football games. The more knowledge or appreciation you have for a game the more you pick up, even in the dull games.
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 10:03, Reply)
even when I had my most knowledge and appreciation
living with a couple of fanatics, I still wasn't particularly interested.

It's not the game itself, because I appreciate the skill. I just don't really seem to be at all moved by a team or sportspersons achievement, or lack thereof.
(, Fri 7 Jan 2011, 10:05, Reply)
Sport is soap opera for blokes so you're prob best off out of it.
