Hello good people. Anyone fancy a bit of late night Youtube disco action?
I'll start you off:

I'll be up for a bit of a disco in a bit Bella.
How are you this evening? Did you get your new cat?
(, Fri 4 Mar 2011, 23:31, Reply)
I'm alright
In a bit of a funny mood to be honest. Meh, anyways.

Yeah, I got TWO cats. Since then I have very successfully morphed into a crazy cat lady. It's nice. How are you tonight m'dear?
(, Fri 4 Mar 2011, 23:34, Reply)
I'm slightly squiffy as I've been to the pub
But I'm good all the same.

What sort of 'funny' mood are you in? Funny 'ha-ha' or funny 'meh'?
(, Fri 4 Mar 2011, 23:35, Reply)
Not too grand
Definitely more on the 'meh' side for the past few days, it all came to a bit of a head earlier tonight. But then I went to the pub, had a pint and saw The Pub Husband, and I feel a bit better.
(, Fri 4 Mar 2011, 23:38, Reply)
Who is your pub husband
And why do you think you feel a bit 'meh'?
(, Fri 4 Mar 2011, 23:39, Reply)
My Pub Husband
Is my friend/ex-landlord. We just love the same (incredibly geeky) things, and everyone says that we'd make the perfect couple. However, he is in his mid-40's, married and not hot. So we aren't.

I'm feeling meh for a variety of reasons. Firstly because I've had to make a lot of life changes this week for my own good, which is the *big* thing. Specifically tonight, I decided to file away five years of work that I had loose in storage boxes, and apparently there's something about being surrounded by five years worth of education that you've pissed up the wall that makes you depressed. Who knew?
(, Fri 4 Mar 2011, 23:48, Reply)
Out of sight. Out of mind.
If you've got the bit of paper that say 'I did that' what is the issue?
(, Fri 4 Mar 2011, 23:51, Reply)
Because I'M A FUCKING BARMAID.
I'd say that's the main source of ire at the moment.
(, Fri 4 Mar 2011, 23:54, Reply)
Are you a GOOD barmaid though?

(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 0:02, Reply)
Of course I am
Been doing it 4 1/2 years. I can run that damn pub blindfolded. But really, it's not good.
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 0:06, Reply)
Are there no job opportunities near you?

(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 0:07, Reply)
Is law still the preferred route, career wise?

(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 0:07, Reply)
To respond to you both
The 'plan' was to join the CPS when I graduated, and the month I graduated they announced that they weren't taking anyone on for at least two years because of government cuts. Now I have no clue what I want to do, just that I don't want to get an office job just for the sake of having one.
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 0:13, Reply)
But would a 9-5 give you that chance to study/write further?

(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 0:15, Reply)
I couldn't afford to study more.
I'm reticent about getting a 9-5 because a) my sleep and other things aren't brilliant at the moment and b) if I had a secure job, I'd probably just end up keeping it and never taking the leap of doing something I really wanted to (whatever that may be).
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 0:19, Reply)
Surely your options would still be open if you went 9-5
As you've got the bar-skills to call upon if you decide to step off the ladder?

Why not have a look at something slightly different, you strike be as being a bit bohemian.

How would the 3rd sector suit?

(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 0:24, Reply)
I dunno
I'm looking for a career, rather than a job - if that makes sense?
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 0:33, Reply)
But you can have a career within the third sector.
These organisations are smaller than most corporates and if you've got qualifications that might be relevant to the work they're doing, they'd be looking at calling on the skills of staff far more than those companies who can 'buy in' resources at the drop of a hat.

If you want to use your qualifications, and be able to show this on your C.V, then there are worse route you could follow.

That you are the queen of the bendists.

I am a tremendous music geek. Primal Scream are one of my favourite bands.
This came out as a single in 1997, was only available for a week, was deliberately too long to qualify for the charts and was limited edition.

I have the 12" and the CD. I love it to bits.

This is one of my favourite tracks by them, a B side to Some Velvet Morning

I love Slyde & Finger Lickin' Records.

Plump DJs were pretty much who got me into breakbeat.
(, Sat 5 Mar 2011, 0:33, Reply)
Observe:
This tune is nearly 10 years old now, but drop it at the right time and it does the fucking trick. When that bass drops people go fucking mental.

what Big Groovy Fucker?
EDIT

And if you liked that, wait for the fucking drop on this

www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2wOP4iuLxg

The bit when the submarine bass comes in is IMMENSE

And the clicks and bleeps scattered through it are great when you are fucked on pills.

Again, I have the vinyl. Breakbeat classic, right here.

Yeah :)

This is probably my favourite Mos Def track, right here, production by DJ Premier, with a signature chorus made entirely of samples:

is the gospel backing.

It's intelligent, conscious hip hop
and is produced by primo, always a good thing.

I should pay more attention to producers
it has a disproportionate effect with this kind of stuff.
