For a horrible moment there I thought Carol Smiley had died before I got a chance to bang her massive mouth
Modern heros -David Cameron and Nick Clegg

EDIT: and of course Maggie for teaching those dirty Northerners a lesson

Also don't forget their CRONIES, working tirelessly and frequently thanklessly behind the scenes.

Ah, Carol Smillie (that's how it's spelt). She took over from "the lovely Angela" as letter-turning eye-candy on Wheel of Fortune after one series.
I know this because my Dad was on series one, winning a car, an answerphone (this was 1988), a set of pots and pans which my parents still use and a trip to Alton Towers. Which sort of makes my £2,610 look a bit paltry.

what sort of car was it?

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:05, Reply)
Now bear in mind that this was the late '80s when this car was new and relatively sparkly,
and yet to be forever tainted by the indelible stain of chav "culture".

Vauxhall Nova

ha ha ha ha
That car didn't do so well in Spain as nova means "won't go"
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:08, Reply)
Haha, that's genius!
When I passed my test in '96 it became the only car I've ever owned, to date. I drove it for 9 happy, carefree months, and then moved to Norwich where such contraptions are banned

I had a Nova, fucking great little motor
until I locked the keys in it and tried to get in via the sunroof. While trying to prise one of the plastic bolt covers off with a screwdriver the sunroof shattered into a trillion tiny shards of pointy arse-puncturing glass. After searching breaker's yards high and low for a replacement I ended up fitting a marine-plywood replacement, which eventually curved up at the edges adding a noticeable proportion of downforce.

You mean Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen?
Are you on some sort of mission today?

I was implying you were being trained to bore... I'm not sure it works myself

The Yellow Pages used to have a section that said
Boring: See Civil Engineers.

After discovering this I immediately texted my brother, training to become a Civil Engineer at the time, and he pinned that page to the noticeboard at his work. Score!
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:24, Reply)
the thing is
it is totally right. Civil Engineers on the whole are complete fucking dullards with a massively over-inflated opinion of themselves.

Fortunately I am a hydraulic engineer.

Engineer turf wars
Do you have gang signs too?
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:32, Reply)
no
I am actually technically a civil engineer. I'm not typical of them though. The majority are very grey and very unimaginative

Check the Yellow Pages
it might still have that entry.
