Yep, a good weekend
Friday was out for Thai/Indian food which my mate paid for. Many beers + hot and sour soup + jalfrezi = good. Maths innit

Saturday was outside quite a lot as it was pleasant. Haircut to stop the "sheep" look I was sporting.

Sunday, more outside with the kids. Birdthday party for daughter's mate in the afternoon. More outside with bikes. Sunday roast chicken dinner

Misguided thing? I would say buying a new car for the missus. £10,000 we cant afford.

On the plus side.
In a couple of years time that car will only be worth £3,000 that you won't be able to afford, so that'll make you feel a bit better.

I'm looking for a 1.6 zetec climate for £5k - the best I've found is £5.5K
which doesn't sound like m uch, but we need a new bed, buggy other baby shit and that £500 would go a long way!

My ex next door neighbour is a car salesman.
He couldn't even beat the price we got at mate's rates.
(, Mon 28 Mar 2011, 11:16, Reply)
you should get a better car
something german.
(, Mon 28 Mar 2011, 11:25, Reply)
too expensive and in this bracket not wortg the added initial investment
plus later more expensive servicing and parts
(, Mon 28 Mar 2011, 11:27, Reply)
A car isn't an investment, it's a hole to throw money into
A focus is probably the best value car to get from that segment
(, Mon 28 Mar 2011, 11:30, Reply)
they are annoying though.
my next car will be a VW T5 van.
(, Mon 28 Mar 2011, 11:31, Reply)
Dunno, there isn't much really in terms of reliability and quality amongst car manufacturers these days, particularly in that segment
That said I always go Teutonic
(, Mon 28 Mar 2011, 11:34, Reply)
Mine's German and it's a complete pup.
Because it's German, it's also a complete pig to work on.

That was a two animal metaphor, so you know I'm serious.
(, Mon 28 Mar 2011, 11:28, Reply)
In answer to both above posts
I sometimes forget that I get cheap parts and servicing etc. because my brother's mate is a splendid fellow.

Still though, there are a lot of things that piss me off about Fords that would stop me ever buying one.
(, Mon 28 Mar 2011, 11:30, Reply)
I quite agree, I'd never have another Ford.
I've driven my share of them and they're totally uninvolving. They're little more than school-run shuttles. Still, parts are cheap and plentiful so if you're just after something to get you to the shops and back, they'll do fine. Just don't expect the wheel and pedals to feel connected to anything, that's all.

I find things like the positioning of vents
and the way that, unlike all sensible cars, you have to press the end of the lever to spray the front screen, rather than pulling the thing towards you very irritating.
(, Mon 28 Mar 2011, 11:34, Reply)
Yeah, that irritates the piss out of me.
I like Jap cars because the indicator stalk is on the right side, built as they are for driving on the correct side of the road.
(, Mon 28 Mar 2011, 11:37, Reply)
YM wrong
The majority of the population are right-handed, so having the right-hand side closest to oncoming traffic is clearly the wisest course in terms of reacting to issues.
(, Mon 28 Mar 2011, 11:50, Reply)
The focus is best in class for driving involvement
