Was going to do some work this evening
but can't get access to the files I need, so am being forced to relax instead. What a shame.

What are you up to?

alt: best film you've seen this year? I have no idea what mine is, I'll give it some thought
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:28, 80 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
it must be so hard for you!
I've already started my laundry, so I'll just need to finish it, then hiding out/avoiding landlord watching black swan

alt: I don't know. Get Him to the Greek was funny, and I quite liked it. Not sure it's the best I've seen. Can it be something you've seen before?
I'd quite like to see The Town.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:31, Reply)
something you've seen before would be fine
turns out, someone is still in my office, so I've got the stuff I needed to work on.

Not sure whether to be pleased or not...
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:34, Reply)
The Departed.
Hands down.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:39, Reply)
I think I was ill when I watched that
so only have hazy memories of it
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:41, Reply)
It's slow, and a bit hard to follow, but very good.
Watch it again. When you're not sick.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:46, Reply)
Good pick
it's an ace film
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:47, Reply)
I tend to surprise myself by liking slow films
I'm never sure till the end though.

I watched The Assassination of the Outlaw Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford a while ago, and it sat there going "hmm" all the way through, then it got to the end and I was all "that was fucking excellent"
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:51, Reply)
Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck?! Phwoar, and again...phwoooaaarrr.
I like a lot of Brad Pitt movies, without expressly being a fan of him. I mean I like him well enough, but I don't feel the need to watch a movie because he's in it.
Interview with the Vampire is one of my all time favorites.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:13, Reply)
I think he's a good actor
I'm a big fan of Interview with the Vampire too
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:14, Reply)
I think the only film I've seen in 2011
has been Black Swan. Which was very good, but I'm not sure I'd want it on dvd or anything.
Tonight I will be mainly eating rhubarb crumble and custard and feeling sorry for myself.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:32, Reply)
why are you feeling sorry for yourself?
what does a rhubarb even taste like?
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:32, Reply)
I have had a gash day at work
and I have a vile headache. Rhubarb tastes of, um, rhubarb? I really don't know how to describe it, kinda sour like plums maybe?
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:35, Reply)
really?
how incredibly interesting
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:39, Reply)
It's quite a tart taste.
And it needs custard/ice-cream with it.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:40, Reply)
rhubarb tastes of win

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:06, Reply)
Rhubarb crumble and custard = AWESOME.

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:38, Reply)
Not much currently
I'm very happy because I've just got £10 worth of free range chicken breasts for £2.50, which is all good!

Alt: I'd say probably Scott Pilgrim.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:37, Reply)
Scott Pilgrim is great
I need to watch it again
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:38, Reply)
It doesn't lose anything in the rewatch, I enjoyed it just as much the second time I saw it

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:39, Reply)
nice
my mrs didn't care for it. The fool
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:39, Reply)
Hmm.
Does she like Firefly?
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:41, Reply)
yeah, loves it

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:41, Reply)
Good, you don't have to dump her then.

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:43, Reply)
haha
she has pretty good taste for films and music, which is good. Means I don't get dragged to shit films or gigs.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:46, Reply)
Awesome
I've never gone out with someone who started with good musical taste, they simply have to learn!
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:50, Reply)
she had a big part in getting me into Pink Floyd
that is why I am marrying her.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:51, Reply)
I'm trying to find the motivation to go the supermarket.
I don't know why I'm putting off going as I'll get a bottle of wine or some beer when I pick up some food.

I'm going to stay in and watch the football this evening and do some ironing.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:39, Reply)
I'm trying to get up the energy
to dry my hair then go to the supermarket.

Alt: not sure which film over all. But in terms of seeing in the cinema, then definitely The Fighter. I don't even know why I like it as much as I do, but it definitely struck a chord.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:48, Reply)
I saw your recommendation for that the other day
I will check it out
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:51, Reply)
Well worth it
I've seen a few films in the cinema this year so far, loved The King's Speech, liked Black Swan, but The Fighter was the one that stuck out
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:03, Reply)
you should go with Jeff
then you could motivate each other. While you're there, get me something I can make for tea with sausages
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:05, Reply)
I use milk when I make tea.
But I shall consider your method.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:09, Reply)
that took me a while to work out
I am sleepy

OK what can I have for evening meal with sausages?
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:10, Reply)
what do you have?

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:11, Reply)
sausages...
I think I have some other stuff. Eggs, brocolli/carrots mix, pasta, cheese, black pudding. It doesn't seem to be obviously a meal
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:12, Reply)
got any onions?
I have an idea, let me find a recipe
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:13, Reply)
no onions
they are still growing
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:14, Reply)
well, you could try something along the lines of this
www.tesco.com/recipes/product.aspx?R=2621&bci=18|Main*4294966572|Recipe%20Card

use the brocolli and carrots instead of spinach, potato instead of sweet potato.

get some cheese over the top when you grill it
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:16, Reply)
potato is an issue

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:19, Reply)
I am basically a danger around the whole cooking lark

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:21, Reply)
ok
do you have any garlic?

and what sort of cheese?
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:22, Reply)
probably
cheddar
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:23, Reply)
hmmm
you could make some kind of sausage carbonara approximation
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:24, Reply)
hang on - I see where you're going with this
this could be a real possibility if I don't fall asleep - thanks you!
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:25, Reply)
what I would do is
cook the sausages, cut them into pieces
cook pasta
beat a couple of eggs with like 25grams of grated cheese, add a load of pepper
fry some chopped garlic, add the sausages to the pan, add the cooked drained pasta, remove from heat and stir in the eggs and cheese mixture. Heat from pasta etc. should cook the eggs.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:32, Reply)
hmm
what I am doing is
cooking all the sausages (in the hope they will be OK cold tomorrow)
Cooking pasta
putting sausages on pasta
adding cheese and probably brown sauce.

I really can't handle this cooking business
sorry
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:35, Reply)
literally the only extra thing you need to do is add some beaten eggs
and it will be a proper awesome dish.

at least give it a go!
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:44, Reply)
i will do another day
I've managed cheese sauce with bacon and pasta before, that was a bit like it
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:46, Reply)
hmm

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:21, Reply)
Suggestions.
Chips and beans.
Toad in the hole.
Mash.

Any of those appeal?
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:12, Reply)
Oooh, toad in the hole
*plots dinner for tomorrow*
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:12, Reply)
ooh, I do have oven chips, no beans, though
toad in the hole sounds complicated and I have a potato but it looks hairy
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:14, Reply)
You've probably got most of what you'd need to make toad in the hole in.
www.deliaonline.com/recipes/cuisine/european/english/toad-in-the-hole-with-roasted-onion-gravy.html

It isn't that complicated.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:17, Reply)
oo, I might make this some day
sounds almost achievable
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:22, Reply)
I know what wasn't the best film I've watched this year
Battle: Los Angeles

it was shit.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:52, Reply)
mine was Little Fish, Strange Pond
funny, I don't remember it being called this, but I was drunk when I started watching it, Callum Blue with and american accent, Matthew Modine with a british one.
Not only was it shit, the whole accent swap was doing my head in, I walked away after about a half hour.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:56, Reply)
that sounds weird
I like Matthew Modine. I think because I love Full Metal Jacket.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 18:57, Reply)
I don't think I've seen all of that.
But yeah, it was fucking weird, not just weird, but stupid as well.
After about twenty minutes I went into the kitchen to drink more while the housemates continued to watch.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:10, Reply)
evening!
I am sleepy. Been swimming after work in defiance of people who told me I shouldn't. Now I'm tired

I have not seen a film this year :(
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:04, Reply)
I have red wine and I'm already a bit tiddly.
*giggles*
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:05, Reply)
are you drunk enough to show us your nipples?

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:07, Reply)
Nope!

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:15, Reply)
what about now?

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:15, Reply)
Nope!
To be honest I have to be really mentally pished to do that.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:16, Reply)
Woohoo!
Thanks for my leaflets, much appreciated *almost sexy hugs*
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:07, Reply)
You're welcome.
*almost sexy hugs back*
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:14, Reply)
BGB I took your advice
and looked at the Guardian website... £32 a month?!
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:13, Reply)
Ah yes! I forgot how much it is.
You could try it for a month.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:14, Reply)
Too much at the moment sadly
but you're right, definitely a better lot
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:18, Reply)
Are you planning on taking out a full-page ad?

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:18, Reply)
That's just to look at the ads!

(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:19, Reply)

Still up for that date though : )

I thought you were now Mrs Dogfucker? You minx - you're mucking around behind his back while he's at Netto.

Alright for your bash though, as I'll be jobless and part-timing again by then.
(, Tue 29 Mar 2011, 19:35, Reply)
