Is there nothing about working hours in your employment contract?

(, Mon 9 May 2011, 19:45, 1 reply, 15 years ago)
oh yes
"you will work 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday or such hours and at such times as we shall require"

another way of putting it:

here is your target. it is impossibly high. if you miss it, we won't give you a pay rise or promote you. therefore you need to work 18 hour days to meet it.

but the actual truth is... i work hard because i am a bit of a workaholic and i want to get great results for the clients. also i piss around on here for a little bit each day!

I would imagine it's par for the course in your line of work.
You have to work above and beyond the call of duty to progress.
