Definitely not, as my afternoon has just brightened somewhat
Alter Bridge, a band I've wanted to see for a couple of years are touring later this year. Fuck yeah!

Saw them this weekend.
Mind = blown.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 16:38, Reply)
The support for them is Black Stone Cherry
And I've heard very good things about both.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 16:40, Reply)
I'm biased re BSC
But they are awesome.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 16:52, Reply)
They're also being supported by Nickleback Lite (Theory Of A Deadman)
Going to be £30 though, fucking hell.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 16:58, Reply)
Nickleback lite is surely Mcfly?

(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:02, Reply)
Listen to Theory Of A Deadman, you'll see what I mean.

Wikipedia lost me at "Creed"

Metalingus, Isolation, Watch Over You and Blackbird.

(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 16:49, Reply)
Metalingus is the only named track I know, but they're superb from everything I've heard.

Sounds pretty average , they're not really pushing any boundries
not awful though
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 16:53, Reply)
Try Black Stone Cherry.

(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 16:56, Reply)
did they do that song Blind Man?
edit: google says yes, in which case I agree with Monty's judgement.

They're certainly no Clutch. Although Clutch's last album was a bit shit. They'd smoked too much draw I suspect.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:05, Reply)
Google says yes

(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:07, Reply)
Aye, they're not really breaking any new ground
But they're very good at what they do.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 16:59, Reply)
Both bands are highly rated by Classic Rock mag so I've had single tracks on their covermounted CDs.
Both I find OK in a non-wow way.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:05, Reply)
You are aware that this is NEW music?

(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:09, Reply)
If something is new - but good* - that's fine by me. I'm not a complete imbecile.
*Jim Jones' latest band, for example. But on the whole the new bands I hear are just shit.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:12, Reply)
I agree, and while I'd quite like to share some of the bands I listen to, I'm aware that it's likely no one else will like them.

(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:14, Reply)
I'm always willing to listen to a new band
I might not like them, but it's unlikely that I'll lambast you for it.

I love hearing new stuff. 2 of my very favourite bands have been recommendations from people on here.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:18, Reply)
Details please

(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:21, Reply)
Shakin' Stevens and The Goombay Dance Band.
CHECK 'EM OUT NAKERS, THEY'RE WICKED.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:24, Reply)
hmmmm...

(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:27, Reply)
I frequently find myself put out that Planet Rock and other such classic rock type media
overlook bands like Bigelf and some of Clutch's output. and Black Mountain.

Outstanding bands that embody everything that the aforementioned media pupport to be about.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:10, Reply)
Most people don't have good taste.

(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:13, Reply)
very true
speaking of which, have you listened to Black Mountain yet?
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:15, Reply)
I've not. I might give them a YouTube this evening.

Thank God.

(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:18, Reply)
Give it time, we'll all be joining in.
Although I'd bet serious money that Darth secretly listens to Coldplay.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:19, Reply)
Today I listened to this
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Cn7ZW8ts3Y

Which was rather relaxing to work to
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:23, Reply)
I'll have a listen to that when I get home.
It beats the sound of the cunt with the masonry drill stood three feet away from me.
(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:24, Reply)
proles! no chance sonny jim.

(, Wed 15 Jun 2011, 17:25, Reply)
Last night I watched some Mahavishnu Orchestra live footage on YouTube.
It's technically impressive but a little bit pompous and flashy - but excellent musicianship - excellent rhythm section. I also listened to some live work John McLaughlin did with Carlos Santana - pretty trippy stuff and redolent of Steve Hillage at times. I found it more listenable than JM's solo noodling.
