I had a right good time throughout Britpop.
I had plenty of money, I was single and liked the music, I was right into it.

I know for every Pulp there was five Menswear's.
But the 90s looked like a hell of a lot of fun. Was everyone getting off their tits all the time as much as it looked like they were?

They were for me.
I had a blast.

I don't know why I'm talking about it.
It's depressing there's nothing similar going on now.

Thing is, at the end of every decade, people say , 'Well fuck all happened musically'
At the end of the 80s, people were saying 'But we had Glam in the 70s and Rock in the 60s' - but by the time the 90s came round, the realised they'd 'enjoyed' a decade of pop-music.

Things are more diluted now, you've got more choice. The 90s included BritPop, along with loads of other things. the 00s more so.

There was a three hour music retrospective on new years eve 1989
that went over the eighties as an era. It was bloody excellent. Apart from the SAW stuff, obviously.

I remember seeing it.
I'm fairly sure both the best and worst band (based on a poll of votes) was The Smiths.

I think I taped it.
Alas, the tape is no longer around.
(, Wed 27 Jul 2011, 22:14, Reply)
I've probably got it on a tape somewhere.
But nothing to play it on.

I'm pretty sure there is an episode of The Saint and Greavsie recored after it.

perhaps there is, but you haven't found it
or you've not codified it in narrative and fluffy nostalgia yet
(, Wed 27 Jul 2011, 22:06, Reply)
It was a time of 'good' pop music.

OMG
*goth dances*

(i realise it's not goth, it was just what we did in those days...there was also a weird mix with folk music round here, too)

i guess it depends where you were
round here it was ace. There was only a smallish alternative scene so everyone went to the same club - goths, metallers, indie kids. I used to go there 2 or 3 times a week. It was ace, if you saw someone in the street wearing black jeans and a band t-shirt you nodded acknowledgement as you'd probably met them in the club before.

man, I;ve gone all nostalgic and melancholy. Sucess does not suit me
