I did some temping many years ago
And as you say, if you are happy to work on short notice then someone is always desperate.

I hated temping, used to get treated like a skivvy.

Absolutely.
I liked the dole until I got the second week of £42 or whatever it was. Crushing poverty will drive you to get a job.

The most soul destrying job I had was working in a British Gas call centre for £100 a week take home. For shame!

I found that the better I was the less money I got.
Got hired for three days work data entry, made a macro to do it for me was done in three hours got paid for 5 hours "to say thanks" if I'd just sat there I would have got 21 hours work at least.
