I'm with you up to a point.
It's complicated by the fact that some of the development is legal, so they are not trying to move that part, just the illegal part. But they are claiming this will split up families.

I still think fuck 'em. Move them all into the legal part and let them sleep four to a bed if they must and they can stay for all I care. But I don't see why they should get special treatment to have retrospective permission that has already been declined granted to live in the bits they shouldn't have built in the first place.

And my point was that saying that is, in my opinion, just as grossly disgusting as saying it about any other group of people. And if I hear "It's not all of them, I'm sure a lot of them are fine, it's just the ones I've delt with" then, well, I ordered a zinger tower burger from KFC the other week and it didn't have any zinger sauce, I'm not saying _all_ black people want to cheat me out of what I've paid money for, I'm not saying _all_ black people are trying to cheat me, and this one _isn't_ representitive of them all, it just gave them a bad name.

OK, my point is that half the people there have no legal right to be there and they have built a community in the full knowledge of this. They are now crying it's unfair to split up that community. Well fuck that, they should have built it legally.

There are many places in and around the area where there are legal sites for travellers. They have been offered options that they have refused to take, so it's reached where it is now.

I have no problem with them as people, and I've already said that actually, one of their legal options would be nearer to where I live than where they currently are and I would still be happy for them to settle there. (so I am not sure where Rory got his NIMBY claim from).

It's not like Laindon/Wickford/Pitsea are full of upright members of the community themselves but they do at least by and large live where they are legally entitled to, and I'm certainly not judging the travelling community as being 'scum' or worth less than any body else. They just should not be where they are under the current law and have always known this, so I'm not about to get all pussy liberal in their defence.

but to leap from that viewpoint to a 'what about the jews' is a whiny, ill thought out knee jerk reaction that isn't really worth the time I have just spent responding to.
