You can't use the DVLA to change your name.
Not that that's what you've done, but they can only issue licenses with whatever name you've used before unless you send in your passport as well. I fully sympathise with you though, I changed my surname and am currently unable to get a passport because the passport people are cunts. I'm supposed to be going to Poland in exactly two weeks as well.
