Not worth a new thread
But how much pocket money did you get as a child, and what jobs did you have to do to earn it?

10p a week when I was about 9
I think when I was about 15-18 it was £20 a month. Didn't have to do anything for it. I suppose if I'd misbehaved I wouldn't have got it, but I never did

Depends at what age.
Peak reached was £5-£10 a week in sixth form. Fiver if I was a model child, did well at school and didn't come home pissed, £10 if I ironed my dad's Friday night clothes as well.
I was allowed to get a bit tipsy...

Half a crown a week till I turned eighteen.

Bunty and Mandy every week
Beano, Beezer, and a couple of others as and when.

And my Bunty, Mandy, beano & Oor Wullie annuals every xmas.

Mandy, Judy, Bunty, Suzy, Beano, Just Seventeen.
Mandy & Judy merged, Suzy died a death, they're all gone now apart from the Beano.

I have every Bunty and Mandy annual - they were still making them up till last year
Whenever I come across a bundle at the boot sales, I buy them up, spend weeks reading them, then flog them on to other sad acts on eBay. There was one woman who used to buy from me, who had almost every single Bunty comic ever printed - from the mid 1950s! I want to be her friend...

£5/week from 5 years old, a quid more for every year 'till 10, then I got £15 for a whole saturday in the shop, which went up by about £5/day 'till GCSE.

(, Tue 15 Nov 2011, 19:38, Reply)
Oh, and 25% house keeping to Ma' from when I started on the saturday.

(, Tue 15 Nov 2011, 19:39, Reply)
I had a paper round.
That should adequately answer both questions.
