I've got Top Gun to watch when I get home.
I am really quite looking forward to it. Such a gloriously stupid film.

I wrote and ran a test case for my cunning plan
to combine two pieces of code. One runs in about 10 seconds when a record loads and one runs once a month on the entire database so a bit harder to get a time for.
However, my brilliant idea took 15 minutes, which isn't really very good when 2000 records are loaded a day. We might build up a bit of a backlog.
Back to the drawing board tomorrow...

I've had a really monged out day.
I took a Xanax to try to kip last night and, whilst it didn't really help me to kip, it has made me feel like I've been swimming through treacle all day.

The employment agency call today sounded promising.
They were basically asking for details like "when could you start" to which I said "yesterday". Hopefully I'll hear something tomorrow.
The feedback was more to see if I'd done anything to cock up my interview as I didn't get the job. I hadn't, it's just another candidate gave a more rounded answer to one of the questions than me and that swung it.

Yeah, they were looking for trainee managers here before xmas, and I did consider it.
Reading between the lines, it basically said '60 hours weeks, and be prepared to work longer when needed'.
Now, I don't mind doing extra hours when it's necessary, but I know from past experience that some managers can take that as an excuse to permanently extend your hours without extra pay.
In fact, the whole 'managers are shit' thing is what puts me off working for other people the most. I mean, there must be some nice ones out there somewhere, but I've never met any.

the local uni/colleges may have a scheme where you can borrow the room in the evening and run your own courses - it's how I started. Also, colleges sometimes won't run things if they don't think about it, you can try and convince them.
