i say bring back the beetle. the original, funky, 1960's/70's adolf-wagons, not the modern ones with the engine in the front ffs. my beetle was the best first car EVER.

The exhaust pipe fell off on the M25 the day after I passed my driving test and was heading to Manchester.

other beetle drivers flash and bip you, for a start.
of course, it breaks down all the time, and the seatbelts don't work, and it won't do above 60mph, but you know. you look amazing standing helplessly by the side of the road.

but a ragtop beetle has to be the best of all.

and have been entirely fixed now, or simply bypassed with the Rover V8 transplant. They're magnificent cars.
I do like the TR6, but it's just not Seventies enough for my tastes.
(, Thu 12 Jan 2012, 11:30, Reply)
doesn't change the fact they had access to every single fucking V8 in the BL range, and also one of the chevy small block jobs, and STILL they decided to build one simply by welding two straight 4s together. Stupid, retarded engine whether it works or not.
But, yeah, rover V8. but a TR6 is still quicker and better looking and cheaper.
(, Thu 12 Jan 2012, 11:33, Reply)
I did see a TR6 for sale in one of the classics classified that had been track-day prepped. Lowered suspension, roll bar, wider arches and tyres, it looked nails.

They were fucking cool.
True story.

It did 0-100000000 in 0.2 nanoseconds. I used to go to 'the game' in it all the time.

my lovely beetle is still registered, so someone is driving it. that baby was from 1974, so it's heading up for the big 4-0.
i want it back.
(, Thu 12 Jan 2012, 10:52, Reply)
When I part-exed it about 8 years ago it had 134,000 on the clock. Fuck knows how it is still working
(, Thu 12 Jan 2012, 10:53, Reply)
I WANT it

I've always found them to be nice enough.

Massive chip on their collective shoulder. Strong dislike of our lot. It being a uni town probably didn't help matters.

and have the most stupid engine and cooling arrangment in the history of anything.
I like old minis though. My first car was a 1966 Triumph Herald. Vegas, baby.

you've been right a couple of times recently. now you go and blow it by being so so so horrifically WRONG. they are awesome things.
quite jealous about the triumph though.

I just pointed out its rather obvious flaws.
Although I do despise them with every fibre of my being.
