d) that I need a 13A fuse

Owning a house has a fairly steep learning curve. I suspect soon I will learn that I shouldn't have just scraped the wall paper border all over the place

get them to take the pay-as-you-go meter right the fuck out of the house and put you on a proper grown-up tariff.

I had a coin-operated one as a stoodent.
You could unlock the coin box with a bent pin and keep putting the same fifty pence through. The landlord had an awful tiff with the gas board. Terrible thievery.
