Wife signing up to re-train (decided she does want to go back to work after all). With childcare as well as tuition it's going to cost me £20k a year for three years whilst she qualifies.
So I will be spending some of the week transferring a large amount of money to her. Other than that working and no doubt pissing around on the Internet.

What a ridiculous world we live in
where someone going back to work after having a baby actually costs them money.

Once she's qualified she'll earn enough to be in profit.
It's the cost of childcare 3-4 days a week during term time that costs a lot of that outlay; tuition costs are about £5k.

What? After making a huge lifestyle choice like that, the taxpayer should bear
the burden of the cost of retraining you and should also pay you to do it?

Not so much thinking of this specific situation
but my pal's wife wanted to return to teaching but couldn't afford to as the cost of having someone else tend to her kids was going to be more than she earnt.

Really?
Do childminders earn more than teachers in London?
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 8:58, Reply)
They cost an unbelievable amount.

I mentioned this the other day.
Standard childcare cost in London (for a qualified registered minder; nothing special) is about £12 an hour. Say you're working a 40 hour week and you spend an hour a day travelling to & from work, so 45 hours a week = childcare costs of £540 per week out of net income.

So you need to earn about £40k a year just to cover your childcare costs.

Well that's a bit shit innit?

That you have to pay for something you need?
We should apply this logic to everything. I can't afford it so people that work in this industry should be paid less.

I want a Bentley, but I can't afford one. So all the employees who build the cars should do a day for free so I can afford one.

Exactly.
I've got a "returner" who is supposed to be coming back at some stage. She is acting like the firm HAVE to accomodate her wishes. Silly, baggy vagged baby machine.

I keep telling everyone I don't need her, hopefully they will get rid. Fucking working mothers, pain in the neck.
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 9:28, Reply)
Haha, you'll struggle to get rid of her.
She can swan in and out as she pleases now.
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 9:30, Reply)
Yes.

Sorry, what am I missing?
She had a child and then wanted to fuck about coming back part time but had to pay to have her child looked after?
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 8:59, Reply)
You're missing good looks, charm and an ability go four hours without alcohol.

(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 9:03, Reply)
Well played.

Insults. Nice riposte.

They're all I've got left.
