Eating fish is worse than eating meat.

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 13:37, 1 reply, 13 years ago)
Show your working
Not that I necessarily disagree, will be cutting out fish soon too
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 13:42, Reply)
Easy
One fish, one life, feeds one person. One Cow, one life, feeds 50 people. One prawn cocktail, 50 lives feeds one person. Fish eaters are the worst murderers.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 13:44, Reply)
See your point
but how big do you think a cow is?
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 13:55, Reply)
About 50 fish

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:00, Reply)
50 people?
You are eating portions of cow that are WAY too small.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 13:56, Reply)
I think he's thinking of that other popular form of steak
Elephant, that's it
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 13:59, Reply)
It was a random guess based on me thinking a cow has the meat of at least 50 fish
Sorry
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:01, Reply)
50 people seems a reasonable estimate
highpointfarmsfarmhappenings.wordpress.com/2012/06/15/how-many-steaks-in-a-cow-chops-in-pig-4/
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:03, Reply)
I say again
you are eating portions of cow that are too small.

The point of this was not to suggest you can't get 50 peoples worth of food off a cow. Of course you can. It was to say that people should eat MOAR cow and ALL OF the cow because it is LOVELY and now you've ruined it with your FACTS.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:07, Reply)
You would definitely consider my portions of cow to be too small.

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:09, Reply)
You just need to pay attention
to the battery farming of your tofudebeests, tangles.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:11, Reply)
haha, it's actually an interesting point, fair does.
from a resources point it's quite complicated, I would think.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:04, Reply)
Fish stocks around the world are generally plummeting.
There's no chance that cows will go extinct. Cod and Salmon...
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 13:46, Reply)
... won't go extinct either.
What with Salmon being farmed, and Cod perfectly farmable if the economics of it change.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 13:55, Reply)
EXTINCT IN THE WILD THEN GODDDDDDd

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 13:59, Reply)

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:04, Reply)
Haven't touched cod in over a decade for exactly that reason
nor do I eat tuna, salmon or king prawns, because of how the latter are farmed.

Nonetheless that's not my reasoning. I'm perfectly happy to eat samphire out of season if I can get it.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 13:57, Reply)
You don't eat tuna because of how king prawns are farmed?

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:00, Reply)
No, I don't eat king prawns because of how king prawns are farmed
You fucking retard.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:01, Reply)
erm, what's wrong with how king prawns are farmed?
are you seriously concerned about cruelty to crustaceans?
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:03, Reply)
No, it's about the flooding of the farmland around the areas they're fished from
Basically the farming of king prawns is disastrous for local ecology
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:05, Reply)
Pretty sure Tesco isn't flooded
I mean I ain't been there since Tuesday but it was alright then
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:06, Reply)
what, as opposed to the unliateral destuction of forest and grassland habitats
for intensive crop farming? Yeah, vegetables are well ecosafe.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:09, Reply)
I live in Norfolk FFS
How far from home do you think I have to go to get my vegetables? They're basically handing them out on street corners
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:11, Reply)
i see, blind to the suffering of vegetables because of nimbyism, is it?

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:12, Reply)
Hang on
You're having a pop at me for buying local? What do you expect me to do about the unethical farming methods used to harvest fruit and veg I don't buy, apart from being a member of Avaaz, giving to Greenpeace, supporting Fairtrade, all of which I also do?
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:16, Reply)
Suicide vest.

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:21, Reply)
if you get a bit of suicide bomber in your mouth are you still a vegetarian?

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:25, Reply)
Afraid not.
You are then duty bound to blow yourself up as well.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:28, Reply)
I think it should be pretty obvious that since I said "suffering of vegetables"
I'm taking the piss and not having a pop at anyone, mate.

Have a pint and a crafty wank, eh? it's been a long week.

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:08, Reply)
The latter because of how it is farmed.
You fucking retard.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:05, Reply)

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:08, Reply)
Cod is actually now more sustainable than a lot of other fish.
Haddock is struggling, cod was a no go fish for long enough to bounce back.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:08, Reply)
It's interesting, the aquaculture guys I work with
would farm it if it was in decline, because it makes it valuable enough to bother, but since it isn't, they don't. A kind of self-balancing state of play.
(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:10, Reply)
haha, "aquaculture", like that's even a thing

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:20, Reply)
WHAT DO YOU KNOW, YOU FUCKING KNOW-NOTHING PRICK

(, Thu 11 Apr 2013, 14:39, Reply)
Yeah.
fuck that production of all of the world's farmed fish and seafood. How could that even be a thing? I must be mad.
