first of all, have work bowling on wed this week. i suck at bowling. really badly. anyone got any tips? other than put the barriers up, which was howled down with mirth by the boys on the team.
second of all, i am trying to buy a new car. i literally cannot decide between the TT soft top, the new A3 cabriolet soft top, or the new facelifted SLK (i love the facelift. but it has knocked about a grand off the non facelifted one that i have to trade in. so thanks for that, merc). what should i get????????

If you are right handed, then turn slightly to the right when you bowl, as you will probably naturally spin the ball left. If you're left handed, do the opposite.
Oh, and don't throw the ball. They don't like that very much.
As for the car, I would say no the TT, and most probably the A3, as they are lovely cars.
*edits after reading properly*
I managed to miss the soft top bit. The soft top A3 doesn't look as good, just looks a bit strange when the top is down.

hatchbacks that have been turned into cabriolets are an abomination unto Nuggan.
are you thinking of the new or the old shape TT?

If you find your balls always swing to one side (WAHEY!) and end up in the same gutter, approach the lane from the same side during your run up. It should offset your kinky delivery (WAHEY!) and you'll get a pleasantly straight release...
erm... wahey!
re: the car, the SLK, definitely.

sucks at the moment. Audis are built by VW, so aren't bad.

You live in London?
Get a Smart Car.
You won't be going above 40 anyway.

Get a bike. Or a pair of Romanian midgets. Paint them gold, dress them up in leather straps, and stand on their backs as they crawl around on all fours to transport you places.
You can even get a couple of midget-sized bridles to place over their heads, so you can steer them properly.
And, being midgets, they're free to park. Just tether them to a nearby lampost.

but neither smart cars nor midgets do so well when i have to whip them up the m40 to go home every few weekends! the gold bling could be good, though.
will put the bowling ball tips into practice. esp the one about getting pissed - ta everyone x

as I'm crap too.
But of the three cars, I'd buy the TT, as the new ones are rather nice.
Although to be honest, I'd rather have a Porsche Cayman over any of them.

snotty nosed brats to overpopulate the overcrowded planet, and i recycle. surely that entitles me to a shiny toy that goes VRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM when i put my foot down?? no?
if money were no object, it'd have to be the maclaren merc sports car or the R8... *drools*
also, the most important thing is the colour. audi are trying to tell me that white is the new black this season. hmmmm. i read a review of the a3 and the journo said that although he really liked it, the first thing he wanted to say on rolling up in it was "I AM NOT GAY!!"

You're fine with that - that's a men in convertables (without big engines) thing. The flip side is the turning up in a 911 turbo - which is the "I've not got a small willy" thing.
Anyway. I saw the A3 Cab a couple of weeks ago and was pleasently surprised. I normally hate cabrios based on "normal" cars, but it actually got me thinking about one myself for next year. All in all though, it would probably have to be the SLK for me too.
Alternatively, save yourself a bundle of cash and get yourself an MX5. I'm coming over all Pistonheads here, but the general feeling seems to be that it's the best handling car (ever!), and while it's not a prestige badge, you'll get approving nods from real petrolheads. You can even get a folding hard-top version, which still gives you a lot of boot space and will keep the noise down a little more (and is better in wider, and in London form soft-top slashing cnuts).

put your thumb in and the fit should be snug, but not tight. Then stretch your hand over the two holes and they should line up with your first finger joints.
Failing that just watch The big lebowski and King pin a lot until you get good by osmosis :)

Speaking purely selfishly, I'd like you to buy the SLK, purely as when you come and pick me up from work in it, it's more likely to make my workmates go "ooooOOOOOoooooh".
:)
I agree with the "get drunk" bit for bowling, no one will give a crap. I actually wanted to go bowling for a work do next week, but we're going to see Wicked. I'd personally rather chew off my own arm and beat myself to death with the wet end than sit through it, but as it's sort of my leaving do, I'm pretty much obliged to turn up.
It's 90 degrees here today. 90. count them. I have...
*melts a bit*

If there was a fit girl constantly guttering the ball, i'd flip the bumpers up on that lane to bounce it back on course and then drop them again.
I got a couple of numbers doing that.

is just a good tip for life in general, not just bowling
soon we can all sit around in dressing gowns all day, drinking white russians and listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival

i thought "big lebowski" was the worst film in the world, i did not understand it! we sat and watched it in increasing dismay and bewilderment...
my brother thinks it rocks.

that the magnitude of how much the big lebowski rocks cannot be described using language or symbology as we know it.

Do you know anybody with a Wii? Pop round and have a go on the bowling game on that. Then you can figure out your technique a bit more.
As for the car, I'm envious of any of those options.
And get it in Red. I love a good Red car.
*shinies*
