i'm in the theatre, all alone, and i didn't bring any cheesy music to dance to!

Feel tired and surprisingly out of breath though, which is strange.

How are you? How long you in the theatre for?

I'll be here a while, but I've got people coming to see me tonight. Real life will have to take priority for a change.

Evening
I'm on child sitting duty tonight while Tourette's goes out. So I shall probably be banished from the computer in favour of endless Anime courtesy of YouTube.

Am I the only person that just doesn't get Japanese animation? The snippets I've seen are excrutiatingly badly animated.

Hm, that doesn't sound so good, does it. OK, I'm being paid for my services.

No, that's not any better.

I'm teaching one the keyboard and fixing a synth for another.

But that's not what you wanted to hear, was it?

I am soooo close doing something outrageous in the theatre whilst all alone.

any suggestions?

To be honest
It's an excuse for me to get a DVD off the shelf and hopefully inspire me for this week's QOTW.

And I'm home alone tomorrow night as she's out again and he's at his Grandparents, I think. Woo.

If you want some classy anime to try and change your mind, may I recommend Elfen Lied? Very dark, very gory, has been described as "barely disguised hentai" but the plot draws you in and keeps you there, as there are so many questions waiting to be answered. It's the only anime to ever make Mr Maladicta cry.

Also, there's something bizarrely appealing about a girl who will slice you to bits with invisible arms one minute, and regresses into an innocent being who can only say "nyuuu" the next.
(, Thu 17 Jul 2008, 19:16, Reply)
in other news
chaps, I know you do the firm, grippy, hand-crushing thing when you shake hands with each other, in a crap macho "I'm stronger than you are" way, but WHY WHY WHY do you do it to us ladies too?

I just met the chap I'm waiting here to meet who smiled and was polite and then BROKE MY HAND in a completely pointless demonstration of strength. I have tiny child hands! There is no need to compete with me! You will win!

Weak hand shakes - Ew!!

(, Thu 17 Jul 2008, 19:22, Reply)
Having relatively delicate hands for a bloke
that handshake thing pisses me off too. There's a bloke I know up Inverness way who is built like a brick shithouse and has a grip to match. Playing the keyboard's a bit difficult ten minutes after your right hand has suffered compression injuries.

@DG et al - I don't get anime either. Don't really see the point of it.

^ I love Eddie. I want to be his friend.
I have spent the last four years cultivating a healthy love of Eddie and an encyclopaedic knowledge of his standup. My one complaint about Mr Maladicta is that he doesn't find him funny. He likes Bill Bailey, and I thought the two would go hand in hand, but alas the boy prefers Lee Evans and Al Murray.

Yes. b3ta posse ftw! But can we also spang Stalker Girl? The bitch got the Eurostar job I was rejected from last week and is moving to the same town as Mr Maladicta and I plan to soon. I really hoped she'd piss off back to whatever hole she crawled out of, but apparently I'm going to be stuck with her for a long time yet...

thank you miss.
I was rather shocked when I saw. Happy though :)

I hope everything gets sorted out with your funding!! Not knowing is rubbish. I get really frustrated with things like that.

I just realised what the time is so I'm going to have to shoot off. But i'll be back later to chat to all you lovely people.
(, Thu 17 Jul 2008, 20:31, Reply)
^ Short of the fact she knows my b3ta username and has one of her own that she never uses,
I have no idea how she would know. Any LiveJournal posts I make about it I've locked so she can't see them, and I never speak to her, so there is no way she can have known we were moving there as the last I said to anyone we were either staying here or moving to Margate. I may have mentioned to her that I wanted to work for Eurostar in the dim distant past, but not recently.

The only other thing I can think is what happened when she saw I'd written something not exactly complimentary about the way she treated her "ex" on the Greatest Regrets QOTW (I've since apologised to him and made it clear I'm nothing to do with her) and mentioned something about appearing normal to people while plotting vengeance... for her, this would be appearing to act as if nothing happened between us, then having the satisfaction of acting upset when told to fuck off because "I'm only being friendly..."

Don't worry about the can of worms thing: I wouldn't mind but I saw her - and she blanked me - at graduation last week, so I was relieved I didn't have to speak to her, and figured that would be the last I'd ever see of her, so that has irritated me.
(, Thu 17 Jul 2008, 20:38, Reply)
People are bastards.
(except you lot, and Mr Storm).

Maladicta - I hope you get it all sorted out. If not, I think there's a posse going ;o)
(, Thu 17 Jul 2008, 20:44, Reply)
@ Storm
And the same to you hun - I know what it's like to have mean shit spread about you :( not in the same context, but it's always upsetting. Don't let the bastard get you down - if he sees you're getting stressed by it, he's only going to do it more.

I think I'm spending too much time with Mr Maladicta: my attitude to stress is now wanting to play something violent. The violentest thing I have is Tomb Raider Anniversary.

Yeah, it was a good 13 hours, very very very busy with ops and stuff and at one point a seagull with a broken leg was brought in - this is North London I work in, bit far from the sea, so not sure how it got round to where we are, but nevermind.

Rabbits do indeed sit by themselves rather well, but don't fare so well when they're left to fend for themselves in cages when their owners go on holiday for 3 weeks. So for half an hour each morning and half an hour each evening for a set three weeks in august I'll be heading to her house to check on them, feed them and clean out their cages. For doing that I'll get somewhere in the region of £450 :)

ThatGirl, you're in. You can be in charge of Medicine and Fashion.

Spakka, welcome. You're in charge of Gadgetry and Imports/Exports. Our main items of produce will be fluff and very strong Devilavian Vodka.

EDIT: If you want it, K2k6, you're in. Science and Music it is. We'll need an anthem!

DOUBLE EDIT: Well, ThatGirl, you'll get booze at a citizen anyway. You can do prison part time, but national health is very important!

TRIPLE EDIT: Moniker, you're in. You'll be Foreign Office minister and head of the Church of Devilavia.

I'd like to not only officially submit my application for a green (or would that be "red") card, but to also apply for the position of head of National Healthcare. Seeing as I am already fond of BGB, I'd like to combine Healthcare with more booze and ocasionally prison.

Any help?

Ultimately the uniform idea must be based on the surroundings as far as camouflage. So if this nation is to be populated by loads of fluffeh, then THAT uniform is BRILLIANT!

Edit: I am a dolt. I tried to edit my uniform comment and clicked delete apparently. Sorry. Remember: I am better standing behind a weapons system. :D

When you come over, if you stop in this neck of the woods, we can attempt to recruit some Naval Officers to begin development of our Navy. We will definitely need a Navy. Great big F-off Carriers and Jump Jets! Lots of Jump Jets and 'splosions!

And the 105 is the finest gun available.

sorry, I love Britain as much as anyone can that wasnt born there or whatever, but the M1 is brilliant. I've driven one multiple times and it glides over peasants like butter.

I really should go to bed, as it's a long day tomorrow, but I probably won't yet.

Night spaks and becks
Ancrenne, I know what you mean about the pumpkins. It's six pm here. That's early to bed even by my standards and i'm normally asleep by 9.30...

how's things?

If you knock back the lighter fluid
Quick enough, it'll go down easy.
Yay!

Right... I'm getting packed for my exciting weekend away.

Is everyone going away this weekend?
I'm away off to Bristol to play at some ceilidh, but only actually going to be there for about 17 hours.

edit - staying a short while, but need to be up at 8 tomorrow morning.

Ah yeah...
I'll be online tomorrow in work-time, but then I'm away until Sunday night or so.

I saw Izzard's new tour here in Chicago, took a bunch of people from the lab. They LOVED it. They're all ordering Izzard dvds now. See, yanks do have a sense of humor... :)

I probably won't be back until Monday morning
Don't think I'll be awake enough to not crash it out when I get home from the stupid train.

One of them
offered me cake or death the other day.

I think I've got through to them. :)

They're pretty chilled on the whole, some of the nicest people I've met. I'm going to be dead sad to leave them. And so generous, I;ve never been invited for dinner so many times in my life...

Bristol is indeed far away
So I am getting the train to Glasgow then flying down on Saturday morning, then flying back up on Sunday morning, then getting a train back down home.

But then again, I'm driving to near London next Friday.

Yeah, for another ceilidh
Going to the full wedding, and then doing the ceilidh at night, grabbing a few hours sleep then driving back up again on the Sunday. I really hope the roads aren't busy. And that I don't get lost.

And yes, travel costs shall be had.

Nearly done in America now, Rakky?

This time in two weeks
I shall be queuing up to board my plane home, sticky boarding pass in hand.

It's gone so quickly. Seems like last week I was round at rachelswipe's eating thai food and discussing what my flat would be like and who i might meet etc.

And it's been ace. Hard work, with the 70 hour weeks and the hideous 6 month winter, but totally worthwhile. I'd move back here like a shot.

EDIT: i won't tell him, i dont want to be found bound and gagged in the back of his car. not again...

I moved here
1st of July last year. I haven't had decent cider since. Which for someone who spent a goodly proportion of their adult life in Bristol is not good...

EDIT: i know, and so many of them. How does he find the time?

I think I am going to head off now, and may get a decent amount of sleep before tomorrow.

I may actually appear on here tomorrow night as I'm taking my pda and staying at my brothers, so will steal his wireless for the night.

Night PoD
Ancrenne,

I went to uni for 3 years in Brizzle, then had a bar job for a while and then did a 3 year postdoc there. I love the place. I remember the Corrie Tap, with ice and a slice of lemon in me cider very fondly. Well, I say remember. I've lived in Bedminster / Southville and Clifton Village. Most of my good friends are still there. But, for shame, I'm actually from just where the Open Golf is being held this year, near Birkdale...

Quite alright my dear ancrenne
Shame I wasn't here for a large amount of the evening. Ended up watching Mr and Mrs Smith with friends.

That's right, real life friends.

Hope y'all have a good night.

^ I figure I won't always not have to get up
so I'm still on student time while it lasts, up till 2 usually either on here, on Facebook, or both, and on MSN bobbling my head to music. It's a peaceful life and my campus is full of vicars and nuns.

I normally get up at 5am, but have been enjoying lie ins as it's my last week at work. I could get used to this...

Cider with VODKA?
Ew, you dirty beast!
(, Fri 18 Jul 2008, 1:12, Reply)
for your
really dry local cider, I quite like a slice of lemon. Plus you can convince yourself its non-alcoholic.

We took a visiting professor to the Corrie Tap one night, they sell a lethal cider called "Exhibition" which is like loopy apple juice. They only sell it in half pints. After a couple of these (plus some beer in the Avon Gorge Hotel) he went to the bar to get the next round.

"Three pints of Exhibition please"
"sorry sir, we only sell it in halves"
"really, oh, in that case, I'll have, er, 8 halves..."

Nicely done. One of the guys we were out with has no recollection of going home. But he woke up the next morning clutching a barbie doll...

That's classy.
