I've absolutely no idea how CEX is still in business
then again, I'd no idea why anyone ever buys anything off eBay. Until it finally occured to me that the world is full of total idiot retards.

OK Maybe I am an idiot but if I shop around and I find the thing I want is cheapest on Ebay, I buy it on Ebay.

I'm being unnecessarily generalistic.
I've just never found anything that's enough cheaper on eBay to even vaguely justify the risk of buying it off "some geezer you don't know" rather than "a shop"
It particularly amuses me how often something second hand on eBay is more expensive than new somewhere else.
It really amused my how someone paid £150 for my 3 year old iPhone 4. FFS you can buy a new one for £180.

I bought a YouView box for like £60, they're £300 new OR you can get them free if you sign up to TalkTalk or BT Internet..... which I didn't want to do.
And my Pebble watch was £99 instead of £180ish.

so your point is
you paid £60 for something it's possible to get for free, and you paid £90 for something that no-one in their right mind would pay full RRP for?
I'm convinced.

He would have paid a lot more than £60 to Talk Talk or BT

well, no, he'd get internet for it was well.
which I assume he needs? In any case, no-one in their right mind pays £300 for something like that.

OK, let me put it another way.
if it is for sale for £60 on eBay, it's worth £60. And you'll be able to buy it for £60 somewhere else. That's how the world works.

Somewhere else? Bit vague though isn't it.
He could trawl the web for hours and find one for £60 on some site he doesn't know or check the big online stores and see if its cheaper on ebay.

Why not ebay?
Is Amazon OK? I use Amazon occasionally.

I'm being facetious.
I've just never found anything I've wanted cheaper on there. Usually second hand on eBay is more expensive than new elsewhere, IME.

If you're buying a lot of stuff that's otherwise difficult to get hold of
like, say, a whole bunch of interior parts and optional factory extras for a 23 year old car, eBay's really useful.
This is intended as an exception to your post, rather than evidence to the contrary.

The Sunbeam Tiger was the first Bond car. This may have affected its value.
Having said that, being a Bond car's done fuck all for the Renault 11.

it has really obvious areas of white paint. Ironically, around the areas that would typically actually rust on a golf that age
how is it done if it's not painted on?

Bearing in mind I read about it over 10 years ago, the paint was stripped, and they soaked the bare metal with saltwater.

OK. If you say so.
it really does look like there's white paint underneath though. Unless they did a half-arsed job of stripping the paint, of course
