I got back from holiday to find over 300 emails in my inbox.
I am now down to 1. I deleted the others. I feel both happy and liberated.

I read somewhere recently that the current trend in out of office replies is to have some message stating that not only are you away and unable to respond
but also that the email will be deleted and it's up to the sender to send it again when you've returned.

I don't bother with that.
I tell them where to go for help in my absence. It's up to them whether they do it or not, I'm not their Dad.

I always wanted to do that
I think it would be carnage though

mine always says
"i will be picking up emails during my absence, and will revert to you as soon as possible, but if your query is urgent, blah blah"

on the basis that i sunbathe with my blackberry in my hand, and it was the first thing i asked for after coming round when i knocked myself out last week... stupid work, but i'd always rather know what was going on than have a dark surprise on my return.

I always think 'revert to' is incorrect.
Am I wrong?
