How's everyone after the weekend, and Vipros's gig, etc?

I am grand after the weekend, and even caught up on sleep.
How was yours?
It's so sunny! Love it.
Kind of.

the gig was great fun, but has been mildly overshadowed by having to get my bathroom ready for the plasterers. that went well too!

In fact, yesterday was a lovely day, but it was teatime until I saw the sun on Saturday.
And now it's a bit misty, so every bugger's driving about with their foglights on this morning. Especially the bloke in the Citroen Picasso ahead of me on my way here. Put your sodding lights off, mate. I'm 50m behind you - I can read "Citröen C4" and everything on the back of your car, I don't need you to have your lights on!
Sorry. It's a bit early to be ranting.
Did you find Englandshire a bit warm then, Mr Penguin?

I thought I was going to melt on several occasions. These occasions included sitting in a traffic jam near Manchester, with sweat forming on the backs of my hands, and while wearing a full kilt outfit to the wedding all day on Saturday.
So yes, England is far too warm for us Scottish.

I was fortunate enough to be out in Australia, playing a few gigs (it was basically a paid holiday that we had to do a little bit of work for!). You think England's hot - try wearing the kilt and all the accoutrements in an air temperature of 30°C, under subtropical sunshine, and sitting in a tin shed!
We got the usual questions about what was under our kilts. Sweat, primarily. Believe me, the under-kilt conditions were not pleasant!

Whoopee! I'm in the same timezone as the majority of B3tans ... albeit only for a week :(.

I was working at the climbing wall on Friday so left there to get up to PJM's - he called and told me he was in the pub with his work mates. I joined them and I was all sweaty and dirty.
On Saturday we went biking but ended up only a couple of miles down the road outside a pub on the banks of the canal. We got drunk.
On Sunday I woke up with a sore backside - I think it was from the new saddle on my bike. We went climbing, it was hot. Then we went to the pub.
This makes me feel like I'm 9 again and writing about the weekend for school.

@ Al
Actually we saw a cygnet get caught up in someone's fishing line. It was a young lad out with his mate and an adult swan with her six or seven cygnets. One some how managed to swim into the line, some bloke on the tow path called the young chap an arsehole, PJM tried to contact the RSPCA - the office was closed and after pressing 1 for birds, 3 for young birds and then god knows what for help they admitted the office was closed.
Someone else phoned the RSPB.

Following last week's QOTW, I managed to fix the video player which was on the blink for the last 6 months or so [I un-plugged the scart plug and put it back in really firmly - did the trick nicely], so spent the best part of Saturday morning watching Toy Story parts I & II ...on my own. Bliss.
We also watched 'The Hours' last night. Forgot to mention it but it is well worth a look: excellent acting throughout, brilliant links between 3 stories, one set in the 30s, one in the 50s and the third in 2001 - all around the theme of Virginia Woolfe's book 'Mrs Dalloway'. Warning: it is not a happy film but don't let this stop you watching it. Oh, and the Phillip Glass soundtrack is also very atmospheric and stands apart from most film scores. Ed Harris is brilliant as always, so is Julieanne Moore and Nicole Kidman is very good too; I'm not a huge Meryl Streep fan, but she is well cast here, but the outstanding performance is probably the little boy (Jack Rovello - look out for him in the future). This film guarantees tears from Mrs G from round about the opening credits.
EDIT: Morning folks!

On the subject of sad films, a few years ago I watched 'Finding Neverland' for the first time. I thought it was going to be a jolly romp about how the stories were conceived (knowing nothing of J.M. Barry).
What I actually got was a couple of hours of severe emotional trauma and a pair of emptied tear ducts. It was v ery good, but by crikey it's a sad film...
(Edited to not look like I've broken up with my fiance and to appear that I know the difference between 'week' and 'year'.)

Many times in the US, when people find out I'm Scottish, they make some reference to Braveheart, expecting a response from me. But Braveheart is another one of those films that I haven't seen.
It would be a real conversation stopper but they're actually intrigued that I've never seen it.
It is a documentary though, isn't it?

I didn't rate 'Neverland' much, not much of a whats-his-name fan, or a Barrie fan come to that. There wasn't any explanation as to why he didn't fancy his misses either, or rather, why they got married in the first place. It was her I felt sorry for, and I was a little unconvinced by the purity of the reasons for him buddy-ing up to a woman with young kids - looked like a (perhaps surpressed) peado to me.
Or is that just me?

It was too hot to sleep last night (23 degrees in my room and I've moved the digital thermometer so I know it's not lying because of other factors) so I watched Nightwatch and then day watch. I forgot that they're in Russian with subtitles, so had to pay attention which was worthwhile as they're excellent, but it meant I still didn't get to sleep til about 3am.

Must be summer or something. It's back to being dull and misty here. The North Sea is seriously cold, so every time it gets sunny, the sea fog (or haar as we say here) rolls in and blankets the east coast with grey gumph.
