Turns out I can buy 4 cans of decent lager and 4 cans of shit lager, save myself a few quid, and you don't notice the shit lager after the 4 cans of decent lager.

Keep doing that, reducing the ratio of good quality stuff by one until you actually prefer the cheap stuff.
